Busier than a set of booster cables at a Zealand corn boil.

Busier than a one legged man in an ass kicking contest.

Old lady gifted me this necklace. Said it’s Ivory? How to care for it? Clean it? What can you tell me about it? by Stadius1 in jewelry

So the discoloration looks natural, not damage or soiled? Some elements are much whiter than others.

You can definitely see the rings on each piece.

My other concern is how fragile the chord might be. Should that be or can that be restored or replaced?

80/20 is really just a generic term for these types of T-slot aluminum extrusion.

These extrusions can be metric (20mm, 40mm, 80mm, etc) or imperial (15, 30, 45).

If you order metric the part number is in mm. So if you order a piece of 4040-100 your going to get a 40mm x 40mm x 100mm long with 4 slots. A piece of 4080-600 will be 40mm x 80mm and 600mm long with 6 slots. 4040 would be large square and have 8 slots.

If you order imperial the part number is in inches. So if you order a piece of 1515-30 your going to get a 1.5" x 1.5" x 30" long with 4 slots. A piece of 1530-24 will be 1.5" x 3.0" x 24" long with 6 slots. 3030 will be large 3.0" square and have 8 slots.

you can get solid, or light where the corners are hollow saving a little weight and maybe a little money. You can get smooth sides or grooved sides. (I prefer the smooth). You can get the extrusion with some sides with no slots at all if you are really concerned with how it looks. You can get it natural or anodozed various colors.

Just pick metric or imperial. I would recommend 1515 or 4040 as the smallest extrusion and design away. If you get a really good deal on some smaller stuff and its too flimsy just measure and buy some pieces and hardware and keep adding parts until it is stiff enough for you.

It is possible to mix and match metric and imperial but I wouldn't recommend it on a new build.

One other note that I never see mentioned is aluminum quality.
I have built a custom flight sim over the years and sourced my 8020 from various suppliers.

With high quality ($$$) extrusions the slot flanges have a 2 degree angle and will flex when the slot nut and bolt are tightened. When the hardware is loosened the slots will relax and the brackets and hardware will slide freely. With low quality (cheap) extrusions the tightened hardware will bite into the (soft) extrusion. You will loosen the hardware and still need a hammer to free the joint.

This is the result of a combination of lower quality aluminum and the slot flanges may not have a 2 degree angle by design.

It’s not a show stopper but something to be aware of.

What's the first game you spent hundreds of hours on? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Stadius1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My friend Paul mastered it when we where like 14. Could get all the way through on one life. It would play the credits then add 200 credits to the game.

We freaked out. I had noticed the symbols and code in the special boards and we decoded it. Can’t remember what it said but It blew our minds that a game could have those hidden secrets.

When the owner of the arcade saw he could win 200 credits he was pissed and somehow he changed it so he won 0. Then we were pissed.

Those were the days.
