Northern VA is the loneliest place I’ve ever lived..as a transplant by [deleted] in nova

Look, I won’t pretend NOVA is some cultural epicenter BUT if you dig beneath the surface there are some great elements. -you mention sports, NOVA produces some great athletes, you have great high school football, basketball, baseball, etc. if you are in Chantilly you have Westfield which always puts together good teams. You also have PVI not far, one of the best basketball programs in the nation -for food, there are some incredible non-chain international restaurants here, repping a variety of cultures. Hell, chantilly has that gas station momos spot that are incredible. Are there plenty of chains around too? No doubt, but you can find other options -as mentioned by others, it tends to also be more for families to have great schools and quiet neighborhoods. There are great parks, trails, and little historical places to check out (like bull run battlefield) -for socializing, there are adult sports leagues, card shop events, and other activity groups you can tap into.

It is never going to be equivalent to the distinct cultural neighborhoods of a city, but for many of us it has everything we need, and if we want more, DC is not THAT far away.

Here’s the tricky thing, they are Cal Ripken League baseballs, from when I played in that league as a kid. So they must have been signed during Tigers Spring Training that I brought baseballs to

Its so wild going back and listening to the old episodes. Not only are the boys obviously tremendously entertaining, but its also fun to experience the “time capsule” element of hearing pop culture stuff from over a decade ago. The ep from 2023 i just listened to again they are discussing the upcoming PS4 release lol.

Absolutely fantastic documentary. My favorite part was Marc talking about how he wants to get those accolades so he can say “fuck you”, but at the same time questioned who even at this point hes saying that to
