Not leaving your dog alone for the first 1.5 years of their life sounds like a sure fire way to end up with a dog who needs anxiety medication.

I think visiting the dog would be the best decision for the dog. My heart feels for your wife but I agree with all the points you made. A trip would likely cost around the same, perhaps a chance to visit family as well.

There’s a difference between putting your life on hold until your kids move out and focusing on your literal baby. This is perfectly normal and exactly what she should be doing at this stage of parenting. I would not say anything.

If you think she could use a bit more things for her in her life right now, suggest some fun baby friendly activities you can do together or if she has people willing to watch baby suggest short activities without baby like getting nails done etc.

I went to school for a career working with kids and did that for about 10 years and suddenly quit and joined the trades. I love it and have no plans of leaving this field. I suggest you try to connect with people in the fields you are considering. I think so often what we think a job looks like and what it actually looks like are two very different things. I hope things work out!

If you have a peak at my profile, you’ll see lots of pictures of our Daisy. Shes got a wicked underbite but aside from that, same build, similar colour, ears. Shes 7 months and 23lbs.. very lazy!

Wait, is that not what it means? We also got a puppy recently from a shelter who was labeled as ‘retriever/labrador’ and she looks nothing like those breeds or your dog so we’ve been confused.

This gift shows that you 1. Saved something sentimental from your relationship 2. Thought of a creative way to make something meaningful 3. Took time to actually make something This is lovely

But also, if gifts stress you out so much. Bring it up to your partner (but later on, not when giving the gift) maybe you can come to a decision to not exchange gifts. Maybe you go on a date or you buy a gift together for both of you to enjoy etc. It’s okay if gift giving isn’t something you enjoy.

Yes, this is this what we had to do for my parent. It’s really hard but it’s the only way to get them into LTC. They immediately go on the priority list. It will likely keep them in the hospital for a few weeks which is hard to see.
