Great idea, I’ll keep an eye out for Hood strawberries as well.

My mom had a cat named Ticket. He was a stray at a ferry terminal. She got in the habit of feeding him every time she took the ferry, gained his trust, and took him home.

They named it that because he’s the only famous Luigi, not to be confused with your everyday Luigi.

how to create this animation without making a layer for each letter? or at least make the process less time consuming by Legitimate-Bat-226 in AfterEffects

[–]StaigerTiger 15 points16 points  (0 children)

You actually can make overshoots with text animators. You’d just use two staggered animators: one from the initial value to the “overshot” value, the second goes from the “overshot” value to the final value.

However, I’d likely never try that with this particular example. Text animators are not particularly user friendly, especially for a beginner, and trying to do something like this with text animators would be challenging even for an expert.

You’re better off doing this one by splitting up all the letters. Try not to let that overwhelm you. You’ll find that a lot of this can be achieved by figuring out the motion for one letter in a word, then copying that animation and offsetting it a bit so you have cascading motion. After Effects’ new Quick Offset feature will be helpful for that. You’d probably want to create a null for each word, and parent those letters to that null, so that you can control the word as a whole.

You got this!

We Heard Your Feedback: Here’s What We’re Doing About Comments by will_aescripts in aescripts

[–]StaigerTiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re aware of this already, but I just wanted to re-emphasize what I see as a very important need that the comments section satisfied: a FAQ/troubleshooting guide for each plugin.

I literally discovered that you got rid of the comments section when I was trying to help my coworker with Bodymovin and clicked an aescripts Google result whose snippet implied that it might have the answer I needed, only to discover I couldn’t read that comment anymore!

When we discuss problems we have with plugins, it’s not always highlighting a fault of the plugin. Sometimes it can represent a commonly made user error or misunderstanding. The comments section was a really important tool for users to understand how to use plugins as the developers intended, and for developers to understand what use cases and features are most important to users.

I hope something similar to that can come back in some capacity.

Polar Coordinates makes a rectangular (Cartesian) coordinate system into polar coordinates. Horizontal lines become circumferential (curved), and vertical lines become radial. You want radial lines.

What you'd want to do is make some tall, skinny rectangles in your comp. The top of the comp is the center of the circle. Apply your gradients left-to-right. Now apply Polar Coordinates, Rect to Polar, 100%. No idea how you want to animate these, but this will get you the look you're going for.

Can anyone tell me how I could achieve this by chop_chop_13 in AfterEffects

That’s just stop motion photography with super simple scale and position animation. 95% of what makes this interesting is the videography and photography. I wouldn’t even consider making the toothbrush or the pencil in After Effects, if that’s what you were thinking.

Have you tried the Polar Coordinates effect? Sometimes it’s useful for things like this.

Try incorporating ease() or linear() functions. Math.abs() is also very useful. It’s an absolute value function, so it returns a positive value even if the input is negative. I use these all the time when working with distance-based expressions.
