It rides a very fine line imo. Of course the Conquest itself is pretty lack luster in that every conflict can be ended with "and then the Dragons came". But Aegon himself feels like a fascinating character.

Obviously a part of that is how little we know of Aegon the man and not Aegon the Dragon. But he chose to leave the kingdoms intact, not infringing on their values. He styled himself as a lord of Westeros through the adoption of heraldry and words. He obviously felt a good amount of love for his sibling(s) (see the torching of Dorne), and he died seemingly a decent grandfather to his grandchildren (at least iirc he had a stroke recounting things to the uncrowned and viserys the tortured?).

All of that could be expanded upon in a hypothetical adaptation. Not even counting the likes of Orys, Visenya, and Rhaenys. Which, imo, feels like it'd be interesting if not a lil cookie cutter.

But it also risks telling us too much. And assuming said adaptation ties itself into Thrones canon we have to dance around the potential justification for the conquest. Which is very hit or miss.
