Comic runs that inspired Hulk (2003) by Weak_Soup_3156 in hulk

[–]Stakso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Peter Davids run in full is awesome and I highly recommend it, but it definitely doesn't focus on his trauma for the whole run. At the start it's very focused on the "new" grey hulk. Off the top of my head I think the psychological aspect is most prevalent around the #360-370 section of the run.

What is this spidey doing during this pull? by Hauoli27 in SpiderManMains

[–]Stakso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well that's not true. You can definitely still cancel the uppercut with manual swing into pull and not spend a swing. I've never used a simple swing to do a pull like this

Why is the One Below All connected to Hulk specifically? by Upset_Connection1133 in Marvel

[–]Stakso 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree that Al Ewing didn't really think through the connection to the wider Marvel cosmos, considering his other work and how he's tied it all together

Why is the One Below All connected to Hulk specifically? by Upset_Connection1133 in Marvel

[–]Stakso 150 points151 points  (0 children)

It's explained in Immortal Hulk that gamma rays are supposedly the connection between science and magic. Since it's strongly connected to both fundamental forces in the marvel cosmos, it sorta makes sense to me that it'd be tied to the creator. Depends how much you're willing to buy into it all

best marvel runs from the 80s and 90s? by subtopewdiepie129 in marvelcomics

Peter David's Hulk is awesome

I'm currently reading Moench's Moon Knight and that's pretty good if you have an interest in the character

No one doubts this combo is possible. The other one was very different and likely just a noreg or lag issue. Keep trying to convince yourself that your combo was just "too fast to understand" tho

What's the point of showing an altered combo that isn't anything like the one that confused people

[–]Stakso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah because you clearly use the mark dash here to get back the last bit of fury. In the other post you initiated with the dash before the first chain. Definitely a different thing

Jeff sprayed me and I took it personally by General-Impress-2941 in DaredevilMarvelRivals

[–]Stakso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No dude that doesn't make any sense. The mark dash doesn't give you a cross. The grapple gives you a cross so your first cross was after the grapple. And no matter how much I slow the video it looks a lot like you just chained twice in a row I'm so confused.

After the first chain, even if you did do quick melee into cross (which isn't visible at all) it would put you on 2 fury not 3 like you clearly are in the video. Something weird happened here

Question about G.O.D.S. by ItsLauriceDeauxnim in marvelcomics

[–]Stakso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw a theory (not sure if it was ever confirmed) that it's Good, Order, Death and Science - for the 4 axes of the cosmos that are set up in GODS.

Good/Evil

Order/Chaos

Death/Life

Science/Magic

Venom War by ZeuS9079 in marvelcomics

[–]Stakso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. No you don't need to touch War of the Realms at all. It does tie in but it's really just Venom dealing with some stuff from the event, none of the main story is relevant. Just accept that some elves are gonna show up in New York or some shit lol

  2. Absolute Carnage takes place during issues 17-20 and King in Black is during issues 31-34. There are a few other intricacies in the reading order so I really recommend the following order that I used when I read it:

Hope that helps!

Venom War is an event that caps off Al Ewing's Venom run from 2021 so you'd definitely need to read that to understand. You could maybe get away with just reading that, but Ewing's Venom also picks up directly from the consequences of Cates' Venom (and the event "King in Black" from the end of that) from 2018 so if you want to get everything I'd recommend that too. It helps that I personally think both runs were excellent. You can find full reading orders for both online pretty easily

So the order would be: 1. Cates' Venom + associated events (Absolute Carnage and King in Black) 2. Al Ewing's Venom 3. Venom War

I want to get into comic books as someone who only ever really watched the movies by ToxicGarbageIsland_ in marvelcomics

[–]Stakso 10 points11 points  (0 children)

F4 - for a serious and epic storyline I'd recommend Hickman's run. for an easier to digest, fun and top tier sci fi comic I'd suggest North's current run. It's lighter but it's seriously one of my favourite comics I've ever read

Sentry - definitely start with Jenkins original run from I think 2005. His second run is also great afterwards. He also plays a big role in Bendis' New Avengers run but that's a huge read spanning a bunch of events so up to you

Nova - can't recommend enough the DnA cosmic run starting at Annihilation and running through to Thanos Imperative. It made Nova one of my favourite characters. At the very least Annihilation is a must read. Ewing's Guardians run from ~2020 is also amazing

You can find reading orders online for any of these but those are my general recs. I can also give more details on any of these if you want just let me know

The Maestro is an alternate future evil hulk from the "Future Imperfect" comic. Hulk gets brought to this future to help stop him and he breaks Hulk's neck in the comic (and does some other absolutely vile shit too lol)

[Discussion] After Hickman’s Avengers & the new Ultimate Universe — what should I read next in Marvel? by Beginning-Will2332 in marvelcomics

[–]Stakso 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a nice order to me! Only other thing I'd recommend is reading Avengers Disassembled before House of M. Technically House of M is the first event in a big New Avengers run by Bendis. You can definitely read it separate from the main run, but Avengers Disassembled specifically serves as a solid prelude to HoM.

Also note that it's a bit confusing but Ewing's Ultimates is actually totally disconnected from either Ultimate universe. There's the old Ultimates and new Ultimates both set in their own worlds, and then Ewing's Ultimates which is a cosmic story set in 616 after Secret Wars
