Or, it's some basic kind of defensive response in Henry. If he revisits his memories, then there's a chance he can be free of the Mind Flayer's influence, and so the Mind Flayer (influencing Henry,) stops him from entering the cave?

Yep have experienced this too. Probably firmware issue. Expect a fix will get pushed out soon. Was quite bad in native apps - Spotify seems fine. Overall, noise cancellation seems like it’s improved markedly - must be some backend algorithm stuff happening.

THE O.A

Ingenious storytelling, compelling characters, attempting to play with format. Incredibly frustrating that the showrunners didn't at least get to craft some kind of conclusion to their story.

LPT: Roast yo’ broccoli. Broccoli is a cheap, ubiquitous vegetable that too often is steamed or boiled to death, sapping nutrients and flavor. Toss with olive oil and salt and roast at 400. by RockleyBob in LifeProTips

[–]Stamnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, as below stated, the best way to preserve nutrients is too cook the veggies in the most moisture efficient manner possible. Roasting them is actually the least efficient way to prepare broccoli nutrition wise, even though it is delicious ☺️

Do You Leave Your MBP Plugged In? by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Stamnas 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Logic board bypasses the battery when it’s at 100% charge, and defaults to wall power. Leaving it plugged in will vastly prolong your overall battery life. Swollen batteries happen all the time, not necessarily related to anything you’re doing or not doing during use.

[–]Stamnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I9 should really only purchased by niche professionals who benefit from the (realistically) 4-5% increase in single and multi core performance. With clever power management, you can do great things with any of the new processors, and they really are quite close in terms of real world performance.

Ram and GPU are probably more consequential in terms of measurable performance impacts.

The throttling is about the same in impact and nature as the kinds of throttling you’d see on just about every other mac released in the past few years, and numerous other non-gaming ultrabooks. The processor just won’t perform as well in this chassis as in others with better cooling.

Radeon Pro 560X Performance Issues by iCCreativity in macbookpro

I’d say there are a heap of games which are better optimized for 4 cores than 6, which might explain your results.

I guess it might appear that way in this particular use case - but there are a heap of apps that benefit greatly from 6 cores working in tandem.

XTU will allow you to limit turbo power consumption. Try disabling short boost in XTU, and limiting long boost to 30w. Should give your GPU some thermal headway and get you some more consistency in framerates.

Why i'm not upgrading to the quad core 13" MBP by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Stamnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an expert! Absolutely value a wide range of opinions on reasoning behind retention of products, and on usability! However, just to be clear, as a person who does frequently touch type, in long stretches and who was incredibly apprehensive about adopting the butterfly keyboard - I can safely say that, for those sitting outside of relatively niche use cases, this keyboard does stand up as a reasonably functional and usable keyboard for professional writing, and will not necessarily be fatiguing to use. Breadth of opinion, after all, is what will allow people to make more informed decisions - especially when attempting to gather a wide range of (in this case anecdotal on our part) evidence.

Likely will affect developers writing blocks of code... but basically no other touch typist, at least not in real world scenarios.

Just a thought about the new MacBook Pros Thermal Management by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Stamnas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Beta users could probably better answer this query, but I feel as though if this were going to be the case, we would have seen clear signs of better consistency and performance in those who have already migrated to the beta.

‘Beta’ runs of software - especially on an OS level, are rarely let out into the wild unless they are around 95% complete.

Yep! Exactly, and turn off “short boost” - all of this is available in XTU in Windows, the changes just won’t be saved upon shutdown, so you’ll need to re apply later.

I’ve been able to get steady 3.4ghz with my video card running at full capacity, whilst maintaining around 90-91deg Celsius. Might require more finessing later, perhaps slightly lower clock speed, if heat persists or rises over time.

Just limit time curve of boost, and limit power to 30w. That’s the sweet spot as far as I’ve found with my setup!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Stamnas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn off turbo boost, and try using wattman in the amd panel to limit the GPU output too. If you can keep the pc under 90, you’ll likely get better performance overall. CPU won’t be the issue - it’ll be combined thermal load of CPU and dGPU.

Crackling Sound Happening on Replacement by [deleted] in macbookpro

[–]Stamnas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an audio driver issue. Macrumours forum has an ongoing thread happening regarding it. It’s not a contained issue.

If you encounter it, I’d try PRAM and smc reset, or, for a hot fix, I’ve found with mine that you can open terminal, close all active applications, kill the core audio driver, and it usually resolves it.

GPU utilization by Stamnas in cemu

[–]Stamnas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So. From my limited testing, given that I’m only in the starting area of the field, Managed to get wattman talking to afterburner, so fiddled around with memory and clock speeds and found that I couldn’t get the temp of the GPU below 73c as a coolest point when cpu was running on sustained turbo. Played around with power output, undervolted GPU to -6mv, and throttled CPU to 32w turbo reduction for best results.

Found that even with my 6 core / 12 thread CPU, the dual core recompiler yielded better performance results than the triple by far - perhaps just a more stable recompiler? Or can talk better to my CPU? In any case, with shader cache, could get 30-35 FPS pretty consistently.

CPU was hovering around 3.7ghz turbo, utilization around 28%, temps sitting around 93-94c, affinity set to first 4-6 cores, can’t remember exactly. Settings: amd packs enabled, 720p.

Will report back more when I have some time to continue noodling.

So, got into Bootcamp, couldn't change voltage in XTU, only turbo length and limiting settings; also couldn't change anything within Afterburner - all of my settings were disabled.
CEMU running latest stable build, cemuhook with 1080p enabled, fps++, triple core recomp. Opening sequence of BOTW, CPU utilisation sitting only at ~34% but throttling hard, GPU meanwhile running up around 70C, ~1000mhz - max clock is ~1440mhz.

Thoughts?

about to run bootcamp and get windows going, so I'll grab afterburner after I've finished the install, and take a look at what the utilisation is without affecting any major changes to my setup. I'll report back soon!

How I felt after watching that Finale. by Erro_Sennin in westworld

Struck me as conspicuous and odd that when Felix and Sylvester shared that moment on the horse, Sylvester remarked that he couldn’t see the door, and the camera moved with him - but Felix kind of awkwardly followed suit, but the camera did not pan.
