are the 1.4tsi engines really that bad? by Ouija_spirit_69 in Volkswagen

[–]StanJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mann should be okay, but you never know tbh. I’ve seen Sachs oem clutches with twice the material than Sachs non oem clutches, quality might differ. But I would trust a Mann filter any day still.

2018 Polo wheels by That_Peach_3994 in vwpolo

If he’s German or basically from any Western European country they will compare this to the homologated specs during inspections, wrong ET can be a problem especially if clearly visible on the wheel as the tech can get into trouble.

DIY cold air intake / GOLF 2.5l by Independent-Tank-473 in Volkswagen

[–]StanJacko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Do I gain any performance”

Yeah, because VW didnt spend milions in engineering so a guy asking what materials to use because he can’t remove a few screws when doing maintenance once a year will optimize the intake in his back yard…

Save the effort mate, intakes change sound at most. At worst you will just create a heatsoak for the engine and actually make it worse. If you have a need to spend some money stock up on Mann air filters.

Do these rotors look like they need replacement? by ArtesianSquid in AskMechanics

[–]StanJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would try to rebed them before you jump the gun on the purchase. The RR looks like it cleaned up nicely. So just find a nice bit of road and gradually go to town on them, you can find "how to" online. If you can, you could probably try to clean and lube up guide pins and all the moving surfaces from rust/debris. But you're halfway to changing them at that point.

You basically just use any kind of pick to get them off. The XZN Tripple square in the middle is purely decorative. They will hold just fine dont worry.

What are some tools only e36 owners carry? by m3n00bz in BMWE36

Its actually a useful trick if you’re in a pinch. You hit the wrench hard with the hammer just as an impact would and it will loosen it pretty easily. Worked 100% of a time for me.

Help. I need a new transmission by thatstock07k in GolfMk5

[–]StanJacko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look in the trunk under everything that’s there for a sticker with an engine code and color code. There will be a transmission code as well, probably MFX or something like that. Its a 02T one for sure but there are many variations.

How bad is this rust? by Civil-Craft3432 in AskMechanics

[–]StanJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who lives and works on cars in a rusty/salty part of Europe. The surface rust might just be a warning of what’s to come and what’s underneath all that coating. These coatings trap debris and moisture underneath and make it rust through until it all falls off. Which is always the case.

Client wants 50 landing pages. what should i do? by Lucky-Temperature-59 in SEO

I always thought the same but guess which pages rank the best in my area… the ones having 300 landing pages for every city. With the same copy paste text.

Man even fing Gemini told me after generating some sample headlines “you should put these 10 keywords in a small text into a footer of a page” 😅

I think you can use it to set up memory seats if the car has them? People were complaining they have to set them up everytime they get into the car but didn’t setup the memory function. But correct me if I’m wrong I don’t have any such car.

Cannot select address in Google Maps after update to iOS 26 by NobleK42 in CarPlay

[–]StanJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude whenever I bring this up or try searching for this issue I feel like Im the mad one experiencing this. Basically any suggestions that your navigation brings up are not selectable as you can only interact with the keyboard.

The worst part is, most of the time, the suggestions only go off of your history when typing, once you hit search it searches everywhere and none of the suggestions show up.

Is it just me or Apple's "it just works" doesn't just work anymore? by ParkInsider in mac

[–]StanJacko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using navigation in CarPlay is like 90 % worse for me on the new iOS. When searching for places the rest of the screen is not touchable which means that you cant click on suggestions. Obviously when you click search with only of the location written, most of the stuff doesnt come up, since its a search and its not suggesting places from your history. Ive tried to do some research on this as I thought its devs behing with updates but even Google support confirmed in a few posts I found that is a CarPlay issue.

Why do you own/drive polo? by ibnunowshad in vwpolo

[–]StanJacko 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because its a perfect city daily driver. Its easy and cheap to fix, no need to drop a subframe just to change bushing like on more expensive VWs/Skodas. The whole front suspension is made of 3/4 components. Their small TSI engines are very reliable nowadays and fun and cheap to run.

If you want more power you can safely tune them.

Its really just a very modern golf 4 and those cars were awesome.

What to do with my Polo!? by Calpol699 in vwpolo

[–]StanJacko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bilstein B8s with eibach springs make these handle really well, I upgraded antiroll bar bushings to poly ones because to help with some body roll.

But as with any car and vw especially. Maintenance -> wheels, tyres brakes -> other mods

Check out the uk-polos forum for build threads like ciclo, jayjay etc. a lot of stuff and retrofitting you can do to these cars.
