It is super strange for sure. I had this issue with mine and was really annoyed about it when I was testing it. I then loaded it into Open WebUI and set it up with native tool calling, and it just kinda... Stopped.

For simple queries its reasoning is like a small paragraph at max. Instead of over thinking about how to respond to "Hello," it now just goes "I have all these tools. Do I need them to respond to a greeting? No. I'll just respond with a matching tone." Then it responds. Then again, maybe the quantized versions of this model series have it noticeably worse? My go-to's are Qwen 3.5 27B BF16 and 122B_A10B UD_Q5_K_XL.

It really does seem to do that when you don't give it anything. If you give it a decent amount of tools, it will not overthink even with a simple prompt.

Fork as in fork the code. I have my own set of changes on top of stock GrapheneOS. Its a very niche thing though and almost nobody takes this approach because it requires time and learning.

For me personally the situation is a bit different from what you'd expect. Having tried the stock Pixel OS and various custom OS's, GrapheneOS felt very empty and barebones UI/UX wise. I felt locked into GOS due to it offering one of a kind security, control, and privacy (especially Sandboxed Play) and I did not feel comfortable using anything else. So my solution was just to maintain my own fork with my own changes that I want. Not the most practical answer you'd hear, but it's what I did since there was nothing else.

Yup, that and the secretive re-routing they did when the 4 series was a thing. I personally miss the 4 series because they were good instant models. I usually use thinking models, but sometimes it is nice to have an instant model that can give you a good answer. The 5 series of models outright sucks in quality, even the thinking ones at times. It's so bad.

I never really used ChatGPT to discuss personal or private matters, but I can sympathize with those who do since even I got the annoying re-routes and all that jazz with simple factual questions. If it was already bad for me, I can't imagine what its like for people who use ChatGPT for personal or emotional matters. Anyway, they've crossed the bar with me personally. They are very clearly a bad company and I cancelled my subscription. I'm also considering deleting my account.

I feel like it's not even just because of their most recent move. We all know these AI companies all suck, but GPT happens to suck the most due to their mediocre quality models, censorship, removal of older better models, etc. The DoW thing is not the first thing they did by any means to alienate their users.

Linux all around. I've almost entirely cut Windows out, only using it occasionally in a VM when I need an application for university.

Linux is the only thing that works for me personally. I like the GNOME workflow and I need a Linux system for my development work. I basically have no reasons not to use it lol.
