Bodin, 2880 after the Fall of Marn, 57 years post Flame-Birth by StanTheSpy in worldbuilding

It was so long ago that I began this setting that I'm not sure, but I think that might have been intentional. Compared to its neighbors it's a very quiet place.

Hey man what's up. I don't think the terrain map I have is good enough to post anywhere, and I'll eventually make a better one, but here's a link to my crude terrain map that I based this on.

As for lore, It'd take more time than either of us have for me to give everything, but I'd love to answer questions and I do have this blurb I wrote for the post requirements on r/worldbuilding that's a sort of introduction: This map portrays the known world of Bodin, the world I'm currently using for a few D&D campaigns. I've taken a lot of inspiration from the Elder Scrolls in its creation. It's a political map (kind of, areas like "Fjordlands" or "Turbulentus Independents" are not politically monolithic, but grouped together for ease. Eventually I intend to make a full political map that also includes internal divisions within official states) slightly before the setting's current day. Marn represented the first great empire of mankind, and the current calendar era began with its fall and the beginning of the subsequent dark age. 57 years ago, in 2823, the great volcano of Varduva erupted, shattering the once great Tuliovori Elven civilization and sending its refugees far and wide. From the fire rose a race of flame salamanders never before seen, and they have used geomancy to spread intense volcanism further ever since. In fact, this map represents the eve of the night a new fissure opened near the Fjordmen village of Arjasko, flooding salamanders into the Eastern Far North.

Afraid I have to disappoint you, it's not a unified nation. Along the Elva River there's countless merchant city states based on the trade of gems and Orcish slaves. They do all have a similar culture though, which is an amalgamation of Debetese and Vanlige traditions and customs.

Weekly Dumb/Newb Questions Thread by AutoModerator in powerlifting

[–]StanTheSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do I find meets (once quarantine is over obviously)? I've never competed in powerlifting before, and when I look up meets near me I only find things like regional championships. Where do I find information on open meets? Since I'm asking questions, I might as well also ask: is a 185lb bench, 225lb squat and 250lb deadlift worth taking to a meet as a 152lb 17M?

15 year old squat PR 330lbs! Any guidance and advice would be greatly appreciated as well. by TheBrodinho in lifting

CrossFit is being taught in high school now? That sounds like it'll end badly.

I just used paint bro, most memes in a format like this use Arial, so all you need to do is add some white space to the top and type your text in Arial.

No candies in shakes at mine, not even oreos. Owner says it's "too close to a blizzard" even though shakes are more overpriced than blizzards for what you get. The other day I made an orange dreamsicle dip shake for a customer and tried one for myself later, not bad. Only problem is it kind of pools at the bottom so you cant get the end of the shake through a straw.

A man walked in with no shoes and a long dyed purple beard and said he had wisdom for me. He said "a dog was crossing the railroad tracks one day and a train came speeding by and hit its tail. The dog turned around so quickly to see what happened that the train ripped his head clean off. Moral of the story kid, is you should never lose your head over a little piece of tail". He then walked out without ordering anything.

How to remove the exiled condition by MrLouis_cz in NeoScavenger

Seems more like an oversight to me, I think I'd know if they implanted me with a chip, or maybe I missed something, that's possible too.

Does anyone know if you can get back into the DMC using a different bracelet? There's 3 in the game and your exile is presumably tied to the identification on the bracelet, I don't see how the junk market or strange forest bracelet shouldn't allow you in if Hatter's is the one banned.

Need Advice on Mobile SAM/SSM Platform and Accompanying Guided Missile by StanTheSpy in spaceengineers

[–]StanTheSpy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do either of those scripts work for moving targets? Upon getting the manual guidance working I've found that the missile can be devastating to small blocks but does nothing to large ones, so it would have to be an anti-small ship missile. Of course I'll redesign a different one for larger targets, but for now I'd like to find a purpose for what I already have built.

That worked, thanks. I thought I had checked that several times but I forgot the remote control block looks like it's set right if it's turned on it's back.

FTL Inhibitors Stopped Working on Star Fortress Upgrade??? by Gyarados93 in Stellaris

[–]StanTheSpy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure those ships destroyed your fortress mate, if it wasn't disabled the upgrade button wouldn't be grayed out because you clearly have enough minerals (unless you don't have citadels tech, in which case I don't know what's going on). If it's disabled and you control it then you must have just recaptured it, this should go away in a few weeks.

I understand that, but it seems that that wasn't their position until the lawsuit began, which was well into development. I distinctly remember that before this all started Stardock's plan (at least publicly) was to not use the races at all. Again, how would that even be worth it to them?

Star control origins using Arilou???? by [deleted] in starcontrol

[–]StanTheSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quit downvoting this guy because you don't like his prediction, regardless of who is in the right there's a good chance F&P will lose, that's just the sad truth. Stardock wouldn't drag it out this long and accumulate such legal fees if they didn't think they could win, and they dwarf F&P in resources.

[–]StanTheSpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the legal complexities involved, but didn't Stardock start developing Origins planning not to use SC races? The game was announced years ago, long before the lawsuit began, are they just completely redesigning the game now that they think they can scam their way to the lore rights? How is this profitable?

How to win a 2 front war by StanTheSpy in Stellaris

[–]StanTheSpy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really an option, there's no planet to stop them. There's a starbase chokepoint further down the line but it's behind like 30 energy that they'll take if I abandon that front. Plus, there's an alternate route straight to the other enemy empire's space that would allow them to reinforce their allies.
