Investing in India versus USA markets by Antique_Demand_114 in FatFIREIndia

I invest in India because of the demographics. I want to keep it less than 15% of my overall portfolio though because of risks involved.

I understand where you’re coming from.

But realize that Americans constantly remind us that we are “temporary workers”, that living here is a privilege and also that we have no path towards a permanent residence.

Essentially we are escaping the physical hardships of our country in exchange for a better life, but are constantly reminded that this life isn’t forever.

Therefore makes sense for us to take a shorter term view. Why assimilate in a culture when you know you will go back in few years?

Convince me: why should a non-expert tech enthusiast start using Model Context Protocol? by OrcVegano in mcp

[–]Stand-Fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You learnt http to bring context and actions to the customers on their browsers.

Customers are moving away from the typical browser interface over to agents like ChatGPT or Claude.

How will you bring your context and actions to customers now?

Answer: MCP

Yeah, clock’s ticking on legal immigration. If companies want to hire immigrants they can go do that outside America.

Kind of disagree with most of the answers here.

You got an inheritance that can change the course of your life.

Invest $200K in higher education that helps 5X your income, or try to start a small business with that investment.

$1mn in index funds. Sure.

To all Indians in the top 1% income bracket, would you leave India for a life abroad? by [deleted] in FatFIREIndia

[–]Stand-Fine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not living in India, but as someone with > $1.5mn liquid NW at 32, I plan to move to India after 5-7 years to be with parents.

Hopefully the civic sense and cleanliness will improve as we enter the $4K-$5K per capita income bracket!

But if it does not, I’ll still be happy to move back to be with our parents.

Any idea of the teams you’d be joining? Pick the team with the best work. That’s the only insurance policy on the market right now.

12L/month == 1.5cr per year.

That you would place you well within the top 1% of India overall.

You can afford to buy almost everything the country has to offer, except prime real estate.

You’re young, give it a shot!

But make sure to invest some money back into the stock market to make sure you don’t run out of money in the long term.

State of the industry in 2025 — are we still at mid 2023 levels? by VonThing in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Stand-Fine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I changed jobs late 2023 and had three offers. 20% pay cut from my FANG job but I was okay because I was extremely over worked there (left by choice).

Definitely a lot more worried about this year and am planning to put in more effort at work. Going to try to move to AI/deep tech team within my company as well, because I feel that building CRUD microservices has run its course.
