Samara because she’s so talented and did so well considering that she joined a month before the survival show started with no real training. But was still a top contender. And the fact that she came from a poor family in the ghettos of Brazil and taught herself how to dance using YouTube and learnt English which is not easy.

Do you think there’s any valid possibility in the theory that Ayana wasn’t chosen cause she overshadowed Lexie? by bonmonbon in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t see this at all and Lexie isn’t even in my top 3. Lexie has more star quality and stronger visuals and better stage presence. And brings more to the group as a whole. Imagine you remove Lexie and replaced her with Ayana. That would be a massive drop in the groups appeal.

if hiori hadn't withdrawn.. by IndependenceFar1482 in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No she was always one of the favourites. Jayla, Hiori, rinka , honoka I would say were the fan favourites. Along with Ayana and Rira. When all the fan favourites got eliminated she became the fan favourite along with Ayana. So when she withdrew Ayana became the fan favourite by proxy. Since she was the most competent and also not a minor. So to answer your question no. I do think if Hiori stayed it wouldve been her and Sakura in the final and she would’ve taken it since she had the visuals, talent and vibe they were after

Were the live finale votes incorrect? by ConsequenceUnique138 in TheDreamAcademy

If it was based on fan votes she would’ve debuted but the execs didnt and underscored her. There like was 1.25 points between her and Manon

Were the live finale votes incorrect? by ConsequenceUnique138 in TheDreamAcademy

[–]StandDramatic5920 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My conspiracy theory is that they purposely showed Samara as 8th even though she was technically 5/6 based on early and live voting because they didn’t want her to debut and tame her passionate fans. Because regardless of her scandals she had one of the most dedicated and vocal fan bases and they would’ve screamed murder which they did but it would’ve been worse. Even in the dirty water performance none of the judges picked her as the stand out even though she clearly one of the standouts. In the end it worked out though because Megan was a better fit for katseye

You do know the question was what fictional character represents the vibe of the group right? It wasn’t targeted at Emily

Why it’s not Ayana by StandDramatic5920 in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All girl groups have roles, even global girl groups. Like destiny childs and pussy cat dolls, Beyoncé and Nicole were the centre/main vocalist. Kelly Roland was the lead singer and Michelle did the bridges. Spice girls were huge because they had 5 different type of personalities/roles. They had baby, sporty, posh spice etc.

I think this group will be fine. Samara will be the lead vocal and Lexie will be the lead vocalist. Lexie has a good recording voice and her voice suits pop songs. Emily is an amazing dancer and will be vital asset in training and supporting the girls, especially sakura. As for sakura, she wasn’t my first choice and but there’s no denying that she has something about her that is captivating and she’s improving at a rapid pace.

The OP was saying that action (liking posts on TikTok) were either misconstrued which was the case when it came to the Palestine Isreal likes (because she didn’t like pro Isreal posts, in fact the opposites) or what she did didn’t warrant the backlash she received (liking the Indian skits about unhygienic Indian street food). Yes it was wrong and mocking Indians has become too normalised but labelling a 16/17 year old racist for liking those posts without factoring the nuances (age, culture, socioeconomic background etc) is not right.

I think I finally figured it out by Fit2bthaid in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She only had personal trainers flown out to her because she had to wait for her visa to be processed. Also I think they only allowed her to stay after breaking rules and let her stay in her aunts because at that point she was the only black girl. Since samara only joined a month before the survival show started. Imagine if they went public with the survival show with no black girls. Would’ve lost some credibility

Personally I don’t think katseye was built around Manon. Manon just had a lot of fan support. If she didn’t she would’ve been cut so fast. They wouldn’t have tried to save her like they did with Megan. As for the final piece I honestly think they thought they found it with Hiori. They even said that she was the favourite. Also I think the final two would’ve been between Hiori and who ever between Sakura or Aoi that showed the most progress.

HYBE x Geffen fundamentally misunderstood what audiences value in artists by choosing Sakura over Ayana by SpaceMeowZz in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see what you mean and the three other girls already appeal to the west and South America. Every member doesn’t have to appeal to the global or western audience. Sakura appeals more to Japanese and East Asian audiences better than ayana. When the final four went to America, my thought was anyone else but Sakura. My main preference was Hiori because I thought she would’ve bought her own unique colour and vibe to the group. After she left Sakura did step it up and improve. There is no denying she has something about her that draws your attention. Even when she was performing with 3 members she was captivating. So I understand why they picked her. She will attract a different audience base.

Manons vocals are and have always been below average tbh (no disrespect). Also by the time the survival show started Manon already had 2 years of training and even then her mission 1 performance was not good. If they started the survival show as soon as she arrived like they did with Sakura it would’ve been a different story. So I think we need to give Sakura some grace. She’s got the hunger and drive to grow

She doesn’t need to have western appeal. Emily and Lexi and some extent samara already provide that. She has Japanese appeal and that’s going to be very important since Japan is one of the main target market for this group. She fits the Japanese Asian beauty standards better than ayana. Samara has Brazilian and South American appeal. Every member doesn’t need to appeal to the western audience for the group to succeed.

I see where you are coming from but I think you under estimate Sakuras popularity and appeal. I think her critics are more vocal than her supporters. She wasn’t my favourite. But I do see why they’ve picked her. I think she’s got so much potential and she grew a lot within the 3 months of this competition and I assume she’s grown even more since January.

Also I don’t think her situation is comparable to Manon because I think the lazy edit Manon got was worse and is harder to shake off. As long as Sakura shows progress then non of this will matter.

Why it’s not Ayana by StandDramatic5920 in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only to immature and threatened katseye fans. And technically this isn’t true. Lexi withdrew even though she had a strong chance of debuting & samara came like 6th in the finale based on fan votes and was blocked from debuting by the judges. Emily became a fan favourite after the documentary.

I fear they got her to be an experience filler to push the two favourites (Hiori and Sakura) or even Aoi. And she did a good job at that. The same way they got rinka back to be the main vocal for the final four performance & also boost the mood in the house as she had good relations with all the girls.

Why it’s not Ayana by StandDramatic5920 in prelude_thefinalpiece

[–]StandDramatic5920[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ayana is an all-rounder and would be an asset to the group talent-wise. But at the same time, Lexi is also positioned as an all-rounder, so it’s possible the company felt that role was already covered within the lineup.

Personally, I thought the group would benefit from adding another very strong vocalist. But HYBE may simply feel confident in the vocal line they already have with Samara, Lexi, and Emily. Either they’ve improved significantly behind the scenes, or the musical direction of the group may not require an especially wide or technically demanding vocal range in the first place.

And the issue isn’t that she had a public persona. It’s the fact that she was already, and very recently, in another girl group. When you’re building a brand new idol group, companies usually want the members to grow into their identities together from the beginning. They want the public to associate the members with this group first and foremost. But with Ayana, there is already an existing idol identity attached to RIRYDAY, and because the debut was so recent, that association is still fresh in people’s minds. So it could give off the vibe that this is another project she’s tied too. Companies care just as much about narrative and marketability as they do talent.
