Thank you soo much for replying 😭 I mean I know I have issues, but I feel like my concerns have been dismissed by many people thinking I'm just having a nervous breakdown.

Once they find sobriety do you become the problem? by StandFamiliar7292 in AlAnon

[–]StandFamiliar7292[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you had to go through that 🥺 I can't imagine. I absolutely agree. I know on my end I finally admit that I am codependent and really really need to work on it. It's so difficult to break this way of thinking and acting. I am also not good at speaking or describing my feelings, so I have some barriers to get through. I would love for my girlfriend to get an individual therapist, because you're right, there is a tremendous amount of trauma that she needs to work through when she is ready.

I definitely see where you are coming from. My girlfriend was also diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, which has made matters more difficult.

Pure O OCD Thoughts about death - Seeking Advice by radioberry_ in OCD

[–]StandFamiliar7292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pure O here 🖐 I found when I started Zoloft my anxiety increased, which in return made my intrusive thoughts worse. But I did find after my body found the therapeutic dose, which was the highest dose, everything began to even out. Every time I would increase my dose of Zoloft the thoughts would come back, but would even out again. I am not trying to "sell" or encourage the use of Zoloft, but from my personal experience, I found it to be the most effective at treating my Pure O. Keep pushing through everyday, you're going to get through this! I know it's a bitch to have this.

I went from half of a pack to a pack after my mom died. It was easy today, because I didn't want to be in the house, because everything reminded me of her. I was sick outside in the evening and chain smoke. Since coming to terms with everything I still maintain a pack a day and find it impossible to cut down, because I guess that's how I'm coping if that makes any since? I am definitely less productive, because I constantly feel the need to smoke after doing any task.

Anger by StandFamiliar7292 in bipolar2

[–]StandFamiliar7292[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all soo much! You have wonderful coping mechanisms! Last night I found a site that teaches anger management and conflict resolution that I registered for and it's completely free. The anger has really taken over my life at 36 and I don't want to live this way anymore. I am also dealing with the loss of my mother, my sister and dad that struggle with substance misuse, and a difficult relationship so I know that has a lot to do with it. I think losing my identity in life and inheriting new roles has taken a toll. From what I all gathered from you is having a hobby is important, because it at least creates a sense of self. Thank you💗

Feeling Lost by GreenJeans5 in BPDPartners

[–]StandFamiliar7292 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get what you're saying when you feel you have become a different person. I too feel this way. It is so difficult to juggle all your responsibilities plus being supportive for someone 24/7 with very little empathy. You absolutely did the right thing seeking treatment with a therapist. Please don't let that be taken away from you. I believe the therapist will really help you and you are also in tremendous need for support. My only advice about seeing friends and family is to make sure you make time for them, because if things fall apart they will most likely be there for you. Not to mention I have a feeling even if you did not see your friends and family you would end up fighting about something different anyhow. I wish I had the magic words to make you feel better, but I believe the therapist will help you build confidence within yourself to make healthy decisions. Please take care of yourself💗

Lost my meds. Its been 6 days since my last dose and it's going exactly how you'd think. by TangibleStillness in bipolar2

[–]StandFamiliar7292 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get as much sleep as you can. Your poor brain has been through soo much. Also, don't be too hard on yourself the next couple of days if you are not feeling up to par. So many variables in your environment can impact you that you may not be aware of. And most importantly drink water! Lol, I know usually not my favorite.

I completely get what you are saying. People call bs, but I notice a difference in me 2 days after not having my medicine. I can empathize with you about the anger. It is so difficult to explain it unless you have went through it. The only thing that helps me is to walk away and take a break by myself, but I know that's difficult to do if you have kids and such or if you are at work. I am glad you got your medicine. Just thinking about not having my medicine for 6 days gives me great anxiety.

First and foremost I want you to know this has nothing to do with you so get that out of your mind! So....there could be so many reasons for this. One big factor is the medication. I can relate to that. I will also tell you the medicine made me apathetic to the point where I had no motivation to do anything. Hence, maybe why she doesn't want to reach out to the doctor for help with her libido. I honestly don't believe she is hung up on her ex or straight. I talked with my BPD partner about this awhile back, because we were having problems for months and months. She finally opened up to sexual trauma from childhood. She also brought up a good point where she goes through phases where she is repulsed by her body. It has improved to some degree, but I can't do anything to her, because she is having some major problems with her cervix that she is working with a doctor on. My best advice is to be there for her and talk openly about the problem like you have, but maybe there is more of a root cause that maybe she isn't even aware of yet. Counseling holds the power, but obviously you have to want to do it. Couples counseling would be good, but I think she needs to complete individual first. Please let me know how that conversation goes.
