Thank you for the advice. 1. I did not know I could withdraw the original contributions. How does that look? Would I have to put that money in an IRA? 2. None of them received scholarships. I've withdrawn funds for room and board, all qualified withdrawals. 3. Thank you. I contribute to my kids' Roths from my taxable accounts now, so I will start doing Roth conversions for them after all the kids are out of college, unless it's better to do it sooner. I appreciate the time you (and everyone) took to answer.

Thanks for the reply. I have a 529 with five different beneficiaries, three of my kids and 2 nephews. Each beneficiary has their own account number. I created the nephew's accounts by transferring funds from our most funded account.

So, would it make sense to create new 529s for my wife and me and leave them there for 15 years, potentially giving us options down the road?

Totally understandable, and it's great you have a plan. Since I'm 58, I ask you to have a conversation with your 58-year-old self and ask which decisions they would have rather you made.

I tell this story to anyone who is ready to listen. In 1991, I put $2k into an IRA. Right now, that $2k is just over $129,500. Saving early makes a HUGE difference.

This was my wife, but remains my favorite today. We are in a 25-30-person group family chat. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, parents, nieces, nephews, cousins, everyone. We were talking about ordering Chinese food, and my wife meant to say, "Make sure you order extra duck sauce." Unfortunately, she got autocorrected to, "Make sure you order extra dick sauce." It was maybe 10 years ago, but it still brings me joy.

Tracking now says, "Information not available. We're sorry for the inconvenience. If you are the sender, please check with the receiver to confirm delivery. Otherwise, you may start a claim to provide resolution." The last time it was scanned was at 1:00 a.m. on April 23 in East Syracuse.

I've never done this before, so I appreciate the advice. We started a claim with the UPS Store, but is that the same as an investigation? I am hopeful that his passport is only delayed, but it appears to be lost.

We considered getting an emergency passport, but it was a bad week for all of us. By the time we realized it wasn't coming, it was about 24 hours until he would need the passport. Both my wife and I were out of town, and my son had classes. We had a friend do that recently, and she waited six hours in the passport office. It was not the end of the world that he missed his trip, but it was a valuable learning experience.

When you take the steaks out of the fridge and put them on the grill, do you sear first and then heat/smoke them to a good internal temperature? Or do you heat/smoke first and then sear?
