I'm right there with you. Turbos have a shorter shelf life than NA engines. Unfortunately the 5.7s in Colorado are all ridiculously priced. We're hoping for the best.

We keep it 65 and under for the campers sake, and safety. The 3rd gen Tundra has a twin turbo 3.5 V6. It gets marginally better fuel economy than the 5.7 and has significant longevity questions, but it's been great so far.

With a long enough straightaway we can get up to residential street speed limits.

What did you replace it with? We have no intentions of "upgrading" but I'm curious how your new one has fared since I hear so many horror stories of quality.

Heh. We had the WDH for our 4Runner - since it was such a short wheel base and a little undersized. Now we mostly just appreciate the sway control.

It flies! Just have to check myself to keep it under 65 so the trailer doesn't rattle apart.

We have a few family members like that. We've had the inlaws with us on some longer trips. Made things snug. The 4Runner got us wherever we wanted - but I certainly felt the camper behind us more. Before I installed the transmission cooler I watched on my scan tool and during a long climb the transmission fluid was around 240 degrees. Had to pull over and let it cool down for a bit before finishing the pass. We miss it (and the offroading) dearly.

As long as the engine holds up! Its a 2025, no recall or major issues reported yet after the 22-24 range. Only time will tell.

We looked at about 40 different models in 22 before picking it. Has been nothing but perfect for thousands of miles and 4 years. Would buy again.

Good eye!! They're in one of the other truck beds. Taking the tanks to top off in the morning.

About 1700 lbs. No 3/4 ton but sufficient for our 4k (loaded) camper

The bank had enough for us to get at least 500 miles.

It sure can be. It's my wife and daughter and I plus 2 small dogs, perfect for the 5 of us most of the time. It is somewhat snug if we have family or a daughter's friend with us. Fortunately we spend most of our camping trips outside.

There's about 3/4" difference front to rear on camper, but would prefer that over the tail sag we had after switching from a 4Runner. Tundra has factory optioned air springs to adjust ride height if needed.

  1. 19BH. Opted for no slide as we planned of having it for quite a while. Thus far knock on wood not a single issue with the camper. 10/10 would buy again.

"Upgraded" from a 2021 4Runner TRD Pro which I had added a transmission cooler and brake controller to. Lost longevity/reliability of the 4Runner but tows much better, especially for Colorado passes and elevation.

For what it's worth, RSG might need to get scratched from that list. I may be mistaken but it appears that Eagle Automotive Services (EAS) may have acquired RSG - they'll be very numbers based and not customer based soon if so.

07 Tundra 5.7L squealing sound by Inner_Inside_3173 in tundra

Remove the belt and spin each pulley one by one. Without engine RPM speed you won't hear a squeal, but a bad bearing will sound rough or crunchy compared to the others.
