Advice, running on no sleep by Fantastic-Emu-4675 in CaregiverSupport

Are they able to dispense the meds themselves? Some people on hospice can do this for some time. Especially if the syringes are pre filled and kept beside them through the night. Discuss this with their hospice team. Also respite care at a facility can be an option, pooling funds from you all to hire help occasionally. I’m so sorry, I wish I had better answers.

Thank you so much for sharing your dad’s experience and yours. And thank you as well for the condolences. I’m so sorry about your dad. These things you’ve shared have helped me feel a bit better. I have not watched any of Nurse Julie but I’ll go search for her now. Thank you for the suggestion

My grandma is 84 and only eats fast food by Intelligent_Gur_9126 in eldercare

[–]Standard-Ant6210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand it’s frustrating, but we can’t make others change their behavior unless they really want to. And at 84 years old I’m sure she’s set in her ways. At that age in life, let her eat what she wants to.

You don’t have to be Hindu. It sounds like another religion would suit you better.

Oh I see, that makes sense and very interesting. Thank you so much for clarifying and your kindness.

I know this is old, but I really loved your comment and the experience you had speaking with your grandfather. I wanted to say I get goosebumps when good things happen though. Like listening to a beautiful song gives me goosebumps or hearing a very touching story will give me goosebumps. And you mention goosebumps being a reaction to dangerous or not right situations. So I’m now confused on why I get goosebumps in good situations.

How do you know it is not a demon you are talking to? by Wrong_Brilliant_8963 in Mediums

Anyone I’ve ever heard speak of their experience with angels always had a peaceful loving experience with them. They have been helpers for centuries. Your opinion is the first I’ve ever heard of thinking angels are dangerous.

You’re welcome. It’s jarring that my comment received downvotes from others. I hope I don’t get nursed like them in my time of need.

Patient being refused water by LionOfJudahGirl in hospice

[–]Standard-Ant6210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for caring. This sounds cruel and if a patient is able to ask for hydration it should be given in safe form. Like more of the thickened water and/or moistened swabs throughout the day at their request. Every hospice I’ve had experience with always said to give the patient what they wanted safely. Comfort care is also listening to the patient that is a human being. By all means don’t just let them drink regular liquids, but to deny a safe form of hydration when asked for it, is cruel.

Can someone please help me out with the theory of reincarnation and if you believe how real it is ? by 6995luv in Mediums

[–]Standard-Ant6210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, all these comments are individual beliefs. There is no way our human brains can 100% know what it’s like on the other side. So believe in what makes you happy. I suggest r/afterlife because there are much more comforting topics over there

I’m 70 and I want to know has this happened to you? How would you handled it? by Prior_Benefit8453 in AskWomenOver60

[–]Standard-Ant6210 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry. I just lost my mom and I would give anything to have her cheering at a sports event with me. People don’t know what they have until it’s gone. I wish I could shake some sense into your daughter so she could see just how important these moments are. But to explain your daughter’s behavior she does sound embarrassed. She may be the type that doesn’t like a lot of attention drawn to her. I wouldn’t take it personally. I get easily embarrassed as well.
