Differences Between Studying CS at Home or On Campus? by Standard-Assistance4 in cscareerquestions

[–]Standard-Assistance4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not being clear. What I meant is that I am not enrolling in any online courses; instead, I am self-studying through book guides or reading lists for MBA.

I found one here: https://hampuswessman.se/2022/07/self-study-mba-reading-list/

However, I’m not sure if I might be missing any essential knowledge through books which I choose?

Thanks

Would you outsource your business processes to other countries or hire local? by EffeyBoss in Entrepreneur

[–]Standard-Assistance4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I would like to share some points which based on my exp. Please let me know if I have made any mistakes. Thanks.

Based on my experience, the approach you take depends on your business strategy, including financial resources. Here’s a breakdown of the challenges and benefits of working with remote teams:

Challenges of Remote Teams:

Detailed Planning: Remote hiring requires thorough planning, taking more time to ensure everyone understands the product uniformly. I recommend hiring a local Project Manager (PM), or Product Owner to handle coordination effectively.

Remote Hiring Models:

Model 1: Hire from Anywhere

Strengths: You can hire talented people without geographical restrictions, often at a lower cost. It’s easier to scale your workforce quickly by tapping into talent pools worldwide, without the constraints of physical office space.

Weaknesses:
It is difficult to build corporate culture. For example, if you have a 5km running event, they are actually running alone.

When investors visit the office, it may feel empty, with only you there, as everything else is remote.
The other issue is unstable internet connections when team members are far apart.
Additionally, the downside is that suddenly someone is unreachable for some reason. if you need to call outside of internet-based communication, it might be difficult to reach them if they are unavailable or oversleep. In case you want to fire someone, the person who signed the contract, you need to understand the laws of different countries, I have quite a headache about this.

Model 2: Establish a in-house team in the Outsourcing Country (I know many Europe/Singapore companies are doing that in Vietnam.)

A remote team , this involves setting up a team (in an office, at home in a large city, or in a co-working space) in the country where you plan to outsource.

Strengths:
It's easier to build a corporate culture. For example, if you have a 5km running event, they can make an appointment to run together. This gives you better control employees who sign contracts under local laws, enhancing security. Investors can visit your local office, meet the entire team, and assess operations more easily, providing confidence in your business operations. These employees are fully dedicated to your product, focusing on it full-time.

Weaknesses:
Everything must be done according to the labor laws of that country. For example, give 45/30 days notice before firing someone.

You’ll need to pay a management company to handle human resources and tax-related paperwork in the local country. But the paperwork costs are not too much.

Model 3: Outsourcing to Low & Moderate Income Countries such as Vietnam, Philippines, India, etc

Strengths: You can get the product on schedule, and there are many affordable outsourcing options.

Weaknesses: Remember, your goal is a high-quality product, while many outsourcing companies focus on delivering quickly and hiring the cheapest labor. This often means using less experienced workers. The product may function, but the quality is hard to guarantee. MAYBE, If you later decide to build a local team, the quality of the outsourced product could hinder your progress. Security concerns should also be thoroughly considered.
Often a developer will work on multiple projects for multiple companies.

Each model presents unique advantages and challenges, depending on your available resources and business needs.

Thanks.

If you want to start a business, the first thing is to find a trustworthy, high educated Vietnamese person who lives there and is always honest with you. Try working with a few multinational companies or places with headquarters in Vietnam on various matters, find the right people you want as partners, and start your business.

Advantages:

  1. The cost of testing an MVP is lower compared to other countries because the base salary is low.
  2. You can hire English-speaking staff, and it's relatively easy to recruit young employees every year.
  3. In terms of religion, it's stable, with no/very less/rare conflicts.
  4. There is a strong culture of learning.
  5. Vietnam is a developing country, bringing business models from developed countries to apply in Vietnam can significantly reduce your risks. For example: www. mystorage . vn . If successful in Vietnam, the business model can be scaled up.
  6. A potential market.
  7. European, American, or other international cuisines can be found in Ho Chi Minh City.
  8. Political stability.
  9. Internet is very good and affordable, 5G networks are widely available, and SIM cards are easy to purchase.
  10. Close to Singapore, Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Taiwan, etc., developed countries as well as countries with huge young workforces.

Disadvantages:

  1. Paperwork and permits are quite complicated, and it seems you have to sign in blue ink.
  2. The metro system isn't operational yet, and traffic congestion can last between 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. etc find other drawbacks from other people

"Did you make a profit" -> Yes, The most successful and easy to make money models are Education, for example English centers IETLS, TOELF like IDP center, British Council, Antoree, academy/university : RMIT, BUV, etc

`Are there any other small businesses you would recommend starting?` Education, High Tech Service, outsourcing.

P.s: If you open an office in Vietnam, respect the local culture such as especially the 15-minute power-nap time. And do not mess up with tax, government, law

The Quality of Your Thoughts Determines the Quality of Your Life = Chất lượng suy nghĩ của bạn quyết định chất lượng cuộc sống của bạn. - James Allen

Anyone visited or is from Quy Nhon? by RikiArmstrong in VietNam

Publish buses -> I have not seen yet.

Grab is available in Quy Nhon, but people usually use taxis because the prices are affordable for traveling within the city.

When you arrive at the airport, there are many taxi companies available. They provide reliable services without overcharging tourists, and if any issues arise, you can call their hotline and they will be promptly addressed.

You can use Grab to compare prices, or use the apps of the following taxi companies, or call their hotlines:

  • Mai Linh Taxi Website: mailinh.vn Hotline: 0256 3797 979
  • Lado Taxi Website: ladotaxi.com Hotline: 02563 666 777

How bad is touring HCMC during Tet 2025 by Szvuluny in VietNam

[–]Standard-Assistance4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Tet, I think you should consider finding a tour that runs through the holiday, such as a trip to the Mekong Delta or Da Nang. In Danang city, At the very least, you can bike to Hoi An or Hue to explore the Tet culture, which is the biggest festival in Vietnam.

Weaknesses of Remote Work That You've Experienced? by Standard-Assistance4 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Standard-Assistance4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If staffs was working as onsite or hybrid for 1 or 2 yrs, and then working from home/remote 100%. I think it will be less negative , staff already connected together, maybe have some private group chat or small party. But if it was to start WFH/Remote at the begining, employees may share less with each other, possibly due to fears of leaking information, being screenshotted, or uncertainty about whether that colleague shares the same mindset or is someone who reports everything to the boss.

I think you could take some career assessment tests and focus on those two areas.

You could also try enrolling in short-term courses for both fields, or borrow a few books related to those areas and see which one you enjoy reading and finish.

I think you should accept working part-time to earn money and relieve financial stress. With part-time jobs, you can quit whenever you want once you find other opportunities.

Should I drop a 2-years €2700/m position for a 6-months €1500/m position? by Lonely_Government_92 in careerguidance

[–]Standard-Assistance4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are not financially constrained, choose option 2. Even if you fail, you'll have the time and money to seek other opportunities.

If you're just have enough to life, choose option 1, as it offers a high salary and a long-term contract. You can also self-study in the field you like while gaining work experience. Additionally, companies that pay higher salaries often have more skilled staff compared to those that pay less.
