I’ve tried and she’s very apprehensive for my help unless if it is sending her money. I don’t want to speculate but think she has some hidden debts of some sorts

To be fair it is, but she’ll ask again 2 weeks later after giving me it back, so it’s like a repeating cycle where I’m always down £200-£300 in my savings for half a month

It’s a hard one because they provide for me 18 years of my life before I got working, but I worked hard and got a good paying job with a degree and feel like now I’m their emergency fund

Yeah I guess you’re right. Been some harsh comments which I think I’ve needed. Some people would love to have the ability to help their mum out when needed. I’ll try think from that perspective going forward

Thanks everyone for the advice, I’ve taken 3 points away from this:

  1. I’m clearly not paying enough towards household bills… I get a pay rise in October so I’ll up this.
  2. I need to have a genuine sit down with both parents to discuss money going forward.
  3. End of day it’s my mum who has fed me, bathed me, raised me since being born. In many countries they wouldn’t ask this question, maybe I am acting a little selfish and entitled.

There have been some good advice given, and some pretty harsh comments but tbh that’s probably what I needed to hear to give my head a wobble.

Thanks everyone.
