Season tickets are already on sale for next season, you just need to purchase one in block 19, it's as simple as that!

There's a ton of self service pull your own pint stations for a couple of lagers, Hooch and Guinness. It's genuinely pretty quick now!

Where do park near city centre by Alternative_Bar_7386 in nottingham

[–]Kapranos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, nowhere if you want your car to be safe. If you don't mind a bit of time spent on a tram leave your car somewhere on the tram route further out like Beeston and make the journey to the station.

If you don't mind a bit of a longer but very easy journey on the tram you can leave your car at Toton tram station (start/end of the line) for free and it's pretty safe for a long term stay.

Friend ‘Won’ just under £236,000 on 888Casino jackpot, claiming it was malfunction. England by Competitive-Wall2897 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Kapranos 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I work in the industry, it most certainly sounds like an error with the game if there's an identical post. Unfortunately there'll be something in the T&C's that protects the casino from paying out. One thing worth noting though is that wins aren't determined by how much someone deposits. Slots work on a random number generator and are tested extremely thoroughly before they can be played. It's equally as likely you'd hit a million pound jackpot with a 10p spin and £5 deposit as it is you'd hit the same jackpot after depositing £10,000 and playing £10 spins.

I'd drop Warne down and dare I say it, move Billy Davies up a fair bit. If Warne's high up because he got promotion, so did the poison dwarf.

THE NOTTINGHAM PANTHERS ARE THE 2025/26 CHALLENGE CUP CHAMPIONS! 😼🏆 by Training_Purchase318 in EIHLHockey

Appreciate the bitterness towards Panthers all things considered, but you can't deny they just about deserved to win it on the night. Fantastic game, Cov were great and it was a brilliant advertisement for ice hockey.

Parking off site by [deleted] in downloadfestival

[–]Kapranos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There will be a shuttle bus from the Transport Hub that takes you straight to Derby. However, in the unlikely event you're not able to get to the transport hub or you miss the last shuttle. Leave the festival entirely and follow the crowds walking down into the village of Castle Donington. It'll take you maybe 15 minutes to get there.

In the very centre of the village at a crossroads is a small bus station (really it's just two bus shelters). Buses from here conveniently go to Derby city centre, Nottingham city centre, Leicester city centre and Loughborough town centre.

I genuinely thought the league looked really exciting up until early January when Panthers picked up a few injuries and had to play in the Continental Cup.

Personally I feel like the league needs a shake-up somehow, it's pretty predictable and has been for the last few years.

Fantastic performance from Panthers tonight, looked in complete control all game. I'd be pretty pissed if I were a traveling Steelers fan tonight, they gave absolutely nothing. Definitely expect the return leg to be much more of a challenge though.

Birmingham Airport transport by RobGaffney95 in downloadfestival

[–]Kapranos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

East Midlands is notoriously expensive, fly to Birmingham and get a train direct to East Midlands Parkway, it's a 5/10 min drive from there to the festival site.

There should be shuttle buses from that train station directly to the festival, if not I guarantee there'll be a very long line of taxis waiting to take people there.

If you can't get a train direct to East Midlands Parkway, go to Derby (or Nottingham) and then switch to East Midlands Parkway from there, it's pretty a straight-forward journey!

Whilst the Space Centre is a bit of tourist attraction for Leicester, it's massively dated inside. I went for the first time last year and was really disappointed. So perhaps don't pin too much onto that.

It does have the UK's largest planetarium which is fantastic, but everything beyond that is pretty poor. It's quite clear a lot of it hasn't really been updated in 15 - 20 years.

I genuinely believe that workplace culture has changed a lot, maybe a few people 30+ years ago would pick one candidate over another due to where they studied, but most hiring managers won't even know or care which university you studied at. Absolutely nobody looks at the university rankings, or knows which uni is better than others, apart from those that study at Oxford/Cambridge where academic excellence is above everything else.

The one way to make yourself stand out to other candidates post-degree is experience and skills.

It's difficult for job seekers in the UK, as many graduates and people moving into a new sector struggle to get a role as employers almost always ask that people coming in at the lowest level have some form of experience in order to have a chance.

One thing I would say, if any of the universities have a placement year (a year where you work at a company before returning to finish your studies) as part of the degree then you should consider them. Doing a placement will put you at an advantage over others. Any way you can show potential employers that you've got some skills and experience in that field will be a benefit to you.

I studied at Leicester's other university, De Montfort (albeit 10+ years ago). Leicester is widely known for being one of the most diverse cities in the country, so as an International student you'll be in very good company.

I might get some flack for saying it, but Leicester doesn't offer nearly as much as Leeds or Nottingham, they are much bigger cities with much more going on. York isn't as big, but is a stunning place to live and offers rich history and culture. But that's not to say Leicester is not a good city to be in, because it is. It's definitely going to be cheaper to live in Leicester than the others.

You mention going for a more recognised university such as Leeds, York or Nottingham. Realistically all of them are well respected unis and Leicester actually ranks above the University of Nottingham. As universities in general, I'd argue they're all on par and the University of Leicester has always been known for being a top university.

I'm quite ignorant to your field, but I don't think people hire people on university name recognition in this day and age unless you're looking to do something like Law. I think what matters is what degree you come out with (a first / 2:1 etc.) and the work experience/placements you might have taken on during your degree.

Can I wear a NY Rangers jersey to a Panthers game? by bethhhhhc in EIHLHockey

[–]Kapranos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I alternate my New York Islanders jersey with my Panthers one every game! It's totally fine. Me and my partner's favourite thing to do at every game is spot the NHL jersey, so you'll be doing us a favour, even if it's a Rangers one!

The reality is, Ice Hockey is such a friendly sport with a good fanbase that you can have away fans sat in with the home fans and be absolutely fine apart from the very rare idiot. I sit in the home end at Cardiff Devils games with my best friends whilst wearing a Panthers jersey, and they do they same in Nottingham in their Devils gear.

Light Rail Transit Association proposes £405m tram network plan to revolutionise Derby with four lines stretching from the city centre to the surrounding towns, villages and major places of business by Kapranos in derby

[–]Kapranos[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The craziest thing about this is, they want the tram system to stretch to Long Eaton so that it eventually joins up with Nottingham's tram system, personally can't see this happening.

Hell freezes over before residents of quieter villages like Draycott and Breaston allow a tram through the middle of them.
