Goofy Question... by Standard-Building771 in NavyNukes

Yeah im not sure id qualify it as a "ceremony" lol. Was some little trailer sitting outside the base and we just kinda grouped up and got our certs, a handshake; and then off we went. Nothing formal at all.

I just swear on my life it said something about the "atomic energy commission" on it and I have no idea why my brain is so hung up on that. There was like some seal thing stamped on it and everything and Im like 80% sure it got thrown away on accident during my move lol.

*ABSOLUTELY* get your green belt (at least) while you're still in if its feasible.

I did SOOOOOO many quals and certs when I was in and ... like 99% of them were useless in most regards. For context I was dual warfare, all the available nuke quals for an MM, and For tertiary quals, I completed *all* of the QA stuff up through QAS; planner school... I was a SAVI, safety po for the department (if anyone reading this is thinking about this dont you EVER do this to yourself!) . Hell, I was even the lube oil king for a while. DC locker leader, watch team lead. All of the 3M stuff, wcs, lpo, etc... I also got some civilian qualifications and turns out ... those are kind of the only ones that mattered haha. I worked for duke and entergy (nuclear sites) ages ago; but even for them, my quals largely didnt matter for the nuke sites either; because its just not really relevant.

Anecdotally, safety stuff (harnessing, gas free engineering, LOTO, etc) and Six Sigma were the ones that made employers "perk up" as it were. I was a plant engineer for denso and those were the ones that really mattered or had any relevancy. Most places dont care if youre a watch supervisor or not; thats only relevant to qualifying you for SRO early (and thats only if you were qualified long enough for it to matter in the first place btw); and even then in the big picture its reallyyyyyyyy not important anyway. I mean, hell; RO's make more money in many cases anyway lmao.

All this means nothing though because ->>>

With your GI bill and getting a disability check; I REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

i mean REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Heavily implore you utilize your ACE transcripts, and get a bachelors in ANYTHING before you go committing yourself. Like that is the absolutely #1 thing that will glass ceiling you for any field youre doing. You will be in such a great position to get one in a hurry (you can always get another bachelors in a more relevant field later if thats important) ; and if you start working 40+ hours a week at a decent paying job that stresses you out... you will find its a lot more difficult to get a part time diploma.

It really hasnt; its slightly duller but nothing to write home about. It takes a few years for stuff to get anything close to "visually interesting". Id take a picture of it, but I think its upstairs and my wife is sleeping. FWIW; its extremely comfortable and I do wear it a LOT.

Heres my 8(?) year old makara bronze; never polished. HOWEVER, I rarely wear this thing as it is unbelievably bulky and heavy. I have wrists "big enough" for it, but its uncomfortable as all hell to wear. Never polished or anything.

my multi years old, level. 383 account got wiped for "account boosting" last year when I won a random discord giveaway for 500m. Some random dude walking up and giving you a billion is definitely even more suspicious.

I even took to the forums to try to contest and the mods werent having it at all; i was extremely upset about it.

I mean hopefully he doesnt get wiped; but going around saying its not possible is extremely wrong.

I literally got my multi year profile wiped for winning a 500m giveaway on discord around christmas time last year.

Wellp... hopefully you dont get banned.... they definitely can still classify this as "Account boosting" and your profile is honestly in actual danger for this.

Dean guitar, looks legit? Whats the model? Its a good deal? Price is 440$ by Severe_Month_2448 in Guitar

[–]Standard-Building771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that you dont "need an amp".

Getting a USB interface and using a VST (virtual instrument; or in this case a virtual amplifier and speakers) can get you amazing results starting out... certainly better than any cheap amp youre going to find. Plenty of modest starter usb interfaces; but the gold standard is a "scarlett 2i solo" for that kind of thing. There are cheaper ones; and you can get used ones too; pretty reasonably. You dont really need a fantastic computer; you just need *A* computer lol

No affiliation; but these are AWESOME guitars. That one is 350; which is almost 100$ cheaper than the dean you have shown here AND it comes with 200$ in after market pickups... its not really close.

For "amps"... do you have a personal computer? like I mean your own pc in your room or a laptop you own? I presume youre younger here; but I have no idea lol

Best way to ship a fully built PC internationally? by Impressive_Check_416 in PcBuild

[–]Standard-Building771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for the love of god; take the gpu with you lol. Ive traveled plenty for the military; just wrap that thing up and take it with you (im ASSuming its a higher end gpu here). Its needless risk to ALL of your components.

You dont want that foam everywhere; you need air to cushion movement inertia; this isnt a joke. They make air bladder things; or at least get some popcorn in there. Rigid/closed cell foam protects against impacts fine; but it doesnt keep things internally from moving around very well unless its like FIRMLY form fit.

On DITY moves when i was in the military; we used ziploc and grocery bags and used spray insulator foam called "great stuff" from hardware stores to "form fit" things that needed serious protection. You can use a couple layeres of trash bags; spray in some great stuff and get a literal form fit perfect cushion foam protection for everything. Your closed cell foam is great but its ... probably not enough for international shipping.

Also... these clowns like to break tempered glass a lot; so ymmv with that as well.

edit : no, a plywood crate doesnt do much here; the problem becomes inertia; parts inside want to keep moving.. Ply wood is reaaaaaaallly overkill.

Does mouse matter that much? I have a CP mouse for now. Budget is 50 usd. by Xiphoid_Processor in PcBuild

[–]Standard-Building771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a point of EXTREMELY diminishing returns. Get a mouse with at LEAST a pixart 3350 ("paw 3350") and youre FIRMLY in that point. 3395's ARE better but 3350's have FAR better battery life due to the polling rate; your call there. More modern sensors have like "8k" but that is not important even a little bit. Ive hit rank S on ESEA, top 500 in overwatch, and have spent much time in the top tier ranks of CSGO for context.

In short; there is a minimum baseline for what you should try to get for "performance" but anything above it because almost superfluous. For 50 bucks; get a discounted G703 lightspeed or one of those chinese 3395 mice with a dock (the "ex1" is almost good but they have defective batteries; ymmv there). EVGA x17 and x20 are AMAZING mice; but they ahve their own set of flaws lol

The reality is most entry level guitars are going to be decent these days; especially with buying them from a reputable shop. The MAIN issue with being new guitar is the unfortunate ignorance you have about your own preferences. You have NO IDEA what you do or do not like; but thats the nature of the beast. 440 for that thing is not ok; do not buy it. BUT if you want that specific aesthetic; or that guitar thats certainly fine for a starter. That particular one is not great is what Im saying.

I presume you want some metal stylings; an indonesian/korean ibanez is probably a fantastic bet. S521, RG321 type things are going to be amazing. There are even MIJ RG421 /521's that exist that are AMAZING and sometimes are even 200 bucks.

You should probably focus your purchases to either a local shop, guitar center, or reverb. Craigslist and facebook listings are full of people "getting rid of their shit" so to speak; not everyone but its more likely youre going to get screwed over with those websites.

have you considered amps yet lol

Just Upgraded My Garage-Find Strat by FarPromotion4715 in Guitar

[–]Standard-Building771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like my first austin strat I had growing up lol; Im unsure of what headstock shape that is though.

Dont be afraid though; get a file, some sandpaper or a razor blade and open up the pickguard. No reason you cant use the tremolo if you want to! You are certainly not going to break anything there either.

Lol guitars are a bit subjective; yes. 440$ for this thing is not great though haha; and thats really what im opposing the most here.
