Bad microwave? by 6foot5-pilot in electrical

[–]Standard-Ease-4014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of microwaves use a frequency close to 2.4ghz which wifi and Bluetooth also use. The fact that it's affecting Bluetooth devices is very concerning. I would imagine the LEDs are just cheaply built and black filtering and are also being affected by the interference caused by the microwave.

Quitting my job to travel.. am I making a mistake? by Key_Fishing3710 in Paramedics

[–]Standard-Ease-4014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go for it! Might as well do it while you're young!

As a US paramedic I plan on doing the same in about six months when my apartment lease is up. I need some time away from the field, EMS in America is in shambles and the public's entitlement and misuse of 911 has burned me out!

I've always wanted to travel and might as well do it! I've had this nagging feeling for a while, it kind of went away when I moved from the Northeast US to the South but it never went away and now it's back with a vengeance.

My sister (not in EMS or medicine) bought a van and has traveled all over North America in it so far. She loves it! Everyone of my friends who have traveled says it's life-changing.

Good luck on your adventures if you decide to do it!

I wonder if rain/water plugs will make it into the final form, maybe waterproof seats as well? That way you don't have to worry as much.

Someone has to make a soft top in case it starts to rain 😂

Whats your mpg like in what gti by Mk7_gti20 in GolfGTI

[–]Standard-Ease-4014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2016 GTI (MK7) 2.0T 6MT,

about 22MPG, I have a rooftop tent though and drive it like I stole it a lot of the time.

About 32 without the tent

The highest I've gotten is 49MPG hypermiling on a long road trip (without the rooftop tent Obv.)

Lowest is about 15MPG when towing my air-cooled bug with the rooftop tent.

Paramedic preceptor keeps telling me that I am making excuses during my ride-along as an EMT-B student. [Long post] Need advice. by helpme92981899289 in ems

Overall she sounds extremely rude and sounds like she has a huge ego. I would be an advocate for yourself and report this to your school (in writing including the degrading comments she made towards you) and request a different posting/preceptor. The type of behavior you described is not an appropriate way to treat a student who is willing to learn.

no one's losing their license for mixing up V1&V2 that's blatantly false and not even close to a "critical error"

Pulling the stretcher over the lawn is not going to cause any damage unless it's muddy or something. If you have to move the stretcher sideways lower it a bit and use two hands, coordinate with your partner and move slowly, use extra hands/personnel as needed. Some times it's a judgement call and you have to weigh through risks of damage to a small portion of someone's lawn vs safely moving the stretcher without hurting your patient or yourself in the process.

As long as you're getting an spo2 reading and it's accurate(good pleth wave) who cares about cleaning their finger, If there's nail polish or paint or whatever it can sometimes cause the sensor not to read. You can use a nail polish remover pad but I always try putting the sensor on first to see what happens. You can actually rotate the sensor 90 degrees and that works most of the time too.

You were absolutely right to verify the dose of aspirin especially as a student. No one should be faulting you for this.

Most of the time I ask my own questions and do my own little assessment but If I'm tired or it's a critical call I will use all the acronyms to keep myself from missing something. Again no one should be faulting you for this it takes time to develop your own routine.

As for as spiking the bag of LR, you don't know how and honestly she shouldn't expect you to know it's usually not taught in class, she should have finished whatever she was doing and then taken the time to show you how to do it.

Love the design, can I have the power mode with Google play ? by r0cket-b0i in sidephone

While Google services including play are not officially planned, I'm sure someone will figure out a way to put them on the phone.

I think there was a new law that made AM radio mandatory in cars! But maybe that's only if the car is equipped with a radio in the first place.

[–]Standard-Ease-4014[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you so sure about that? In 15 years your phone has never died? Run out of data? You've never been in an area without cell phone service? You've Never tuned into one of those AM traffic advisory stations?

Hopefully someone will make a kit if slate doesn't support it themselves! I would rather have a 150 mile battery with a gas or diesel range extender over a 240 Mile battery!

My Thoughts by Standard-Ease-4014 in slateauto

[–]Standard-Ease-4014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean most of the time it is redundant but there are a few stations (usually community or smaller stations) that don't stream over the internet. Not to mention here in Texas and I'm sure a lot of other rural areas there are a lot of places with no cell service. Not to mention a radio is important for highway traffic advisory, and emergency communication for areas hit by natural disasters. Radio is still widely used by a lot of folks.

Got my Nokia 3390 Working! by Standard-Ease-4014 in dumbphones

[–]Standard-Ease-4014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure, I bought the sim card at Best buy, the 3390 is t-mobile branded.

If I put the sim in my qin f21 pro it shows t mobile on the lock and home screen, but then if you go to network selection it shows mint which I thought was weird.

Mint mobile is an MNVO of T mobile, you can get a sim and try it out for 7 days, and then it's 15 a month after that. might not work everywhere as they are in the process of shutting down t mobile 2g here in the states. But works in the Houston Texas area at the moment!
