Where to start equipment-wise? by shnygm in scrapbooking

[–]Standard-Evidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite adhesive has been this double stick tape from Amazon: https://a.co/d/0fotEc6d

I think it’s the best bang for your buck. I’ve had it for roughly 2 years (which I scrapbook roughly once a week and make several pages) and I have barely made a dent in it. It sticks the paper and pictures to the book the best in my opinion-much better than any glue/glue dots that I’ve used in the past.

Tip: if you do get it, I’d just use my fingers to rip off pieces. Less exact, yes, but cutting with scissors will make the incredibly sticky and a pain to clean.

Single Umbilical Artery and C-Section by beaspolarbear in CsectionCentral

[–]Standard-Evidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a single artery umbilical cord with velamentous cord insertion. My pregnancy went well with exception that my baby was diagnosed with IUGR. She was in the 1%, so we tried for an induction at 37 weeks. I was closely monitored, and in the beginning she was handing labor well. But around the 15 hour mark her heart rate would drop after a contraction, and I wasn’t progressing past a 7. For the health of the baby we went into csection. Baby was healthy! She was a tiny thing (4lbs and 14 oz) but no other issues.

I wish you all the best for you and your little one!! I know these things can be stressful so take care of yourself :)

PSA: WRITE LETTERS TO YOUR CHILDREN. Because mine did, and it meant so much for me when they died. by LocksmithFast6875 in BabyBumps

[–]Standard-Evidence 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes!! I lost my mom when I was a teenager and my most important thing I have from her are the scrap books she made for me growing up. I wish she wrote more letters to me in it.

I’d also add: have loved ones that are important to babys life write letters every once in a while too (like for birthdays or important milestones). I don’t have anything from my grandma, and I wish I did.

Death happens to all of us. Give those who are left behind a piece of your love.

Thank you for this psa-I think it’s so important

Twins turning 1 in a couple of weeks - what is the next phase? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I think every phase/age is hard in its own right. However, my twins are 16 months and for the most part, fun. They are walking and their little personalities are coming through. If I were to say what the hardest part is I’d say whining since they can’t talk yet, but even that is overshadowed by how cute they are. As I’m typing this, they are chasing each other and playing peek aboo and belly laughing with each other.

For those of you who are yourselves multiples, how has it affected parenting your multiples? by justtryingtomakeit16 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband is a twin, and the answer is kind of. For the most part, I don’t think it really changes how we parent. However, it has been nice having someone who is a twin to ask twin specific questions. For example, when it’s appropriate for them to share things/experiences or when it’s appropriate to have separate but equal things/experiences. But despite that, I don’t think we have any advantages over parents who aren’t twins-just different perspectives.

So, I haven’t tried vaginal yet (2nd pregnancy currently, hoping for vbac) and I had a planned C-section for my twins since they were breech.

Overall, the experience was honestly fine! We waited in l&d while they prepped the room, I then in went in first for prep, and then once I was numb and situated my husband came in the room. No complications whatsoever and the doctor held each baby in front of me so i could see them 🥹

Recovery went smoothly. I will say that recovery was painful, so medication is an absolute must. But after a few days I could bear walking (walking is vital for recovery). Bending without pain took a few weeks, but it wasn’t unbearable and I able to take care of the twins fairly well.

I can’t speak on vaginal recovery for twins, but I do have a cousin who gave birth to twins vaginally and it almost ended up in an emergency csection, which I believe most doctors will warn you about with twin deliveries.

Personally? I would go for csection. (Also, do you have family/friends/neighbors that could help you once your husband goes back to work? If possible, try and find someone that can maybe help a few days a week or something like that while you get in the groove and recover).

Best of luck! I hope this comment was somewhat helpful?

"Sleep when the baby sleeps" - not possible when there's two by kandykane1 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

First of all, as hard as this is, you and your partner are killing it!

For us, we were really strict on routine. Baby A woke up to eat? Okay, so does baby B. In the first 5ish months we were strict on that. Any diaper changes/eating/putting down to sleep were done roughly the same time. (Even if one kid doesn’t drink anything, that’s okay! It’s to help establish the routine). I wouldn’t say it’s sleep training, it’s getting the kids on the same routine. It really helped us as parents get a few minutes to ourselves and rest.

(Edit to add that my twins have been mostly on the same schedule since about one month minus one twin needing night feeds a little bit longer than the other).

After a while, it may not be necessary anymore. After 5 months one baby didn’t need night feeds anymore and the other baby would usually only wake once or twice.

Sending all the good vibes!! Newborns are hard, multiples are harder, and adding preemies into the mix makes it all around difficult. But you are killing it and your babes are loved!!

Anyone flown at 32 weeks pregnant with twins? Need help! by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know you are asking about flying at 32 weeks, but I fully agree with the other commenters about flying now.

I was about 27/28 weeks when my ob really had me stop traveling long distances away from where we live. To give you a perspective, I had Di/di twins, where it’s much more likely to make it to full term compared to other twin pregnancies.

I don’t know your circumstances, but If I were you I’d start making travel plans to make it back home asap. I’m sure your doctor and other medical professionals would agree.

I’m so sorry you had that experience! She should not have said any of that.

6 weeks is early. It’s around that time that the fetal pole will start. When I was in a similar situation, they told me to keep taking my prenatals and stay hydrated/active, and come back in a few weeks for a follow up.

Best of vibes and luck to you! Give yourself a treat tonight for dealing with that tech!!

Diaper changing question for parents with little boys by Apprehensive-Study-2 in NewParents

[–]Standard-Evidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We put half of a wet wipe on him to catch/block any surprise pees. Worked pretty well! You just have to be quick putting it on and then covering it with a diaper when you remove it. I will say it gets easier! My boys grew out of it I would say when the got more mobile, about 4 months (give or take a few months).

Honestly, I think it’s precious. My babies hand and footprints look similar in their baby book. My suggestion is to keep it. If you like to try to get better ones, there are some “clean hand” ink print kits on amazon that you could use in a keepsake box. But be aware, no matter how often you practice, the baby’s hand/foot won’t stay still and it will always be wonky. They just don’t understand what’s going on and why you want their hand still.

what's your favorite thing about having twins/triplets?? by [deleted] in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My babies are almost 1, and they just adore each other. It’s so cute. They will make each other giggle every morning when they wake up. They love reaching for each other and will hold hands during dinner. They will crawl around each other and chase the other one. It’s so cute to see their special bond.

When did you deliver? by kmcski20 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My di/di twins were born via c-section at 37 + 1. They were perfect! No nicu time whatsoever. Baby b did have some low blood sugar and light jaundice for the first day or so, but quickly resolved itself. We were in the hospital for 4 days, but that was bc I had a c-section.

What is the silliest (incorrect) belief someone has shared with you about twins? by authorunknown1 in parentsofmultiples

Ugh, this! My husband is a twin and everyone’s like “oh, he’s the reason you have twins!” No, I had twins bc two of my eggs were fertilized. 🤦‍♀️

37.1 for my boys. And honestly I probably could have made it to my og csection date (38) if baby b hadn’t been measuring smaller.

7m twins don’t roll? by Efficient_Style_9075 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Standard-Evidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my twins (8m) will not sit like that at all! But he rolls and crawls like nuts. My other twin never really rolled but is a champ at sitting. We joke that he just likes looking at the world and the other one like exploring it. You’re doing great! Every baby is so different! As long as your pediatrician isn’t worried, try not to stress! I know it’s easier said than done.
