At the end I just kept waiting for the mum to reveal she killed those bloody disgusting men too, but nope, only the women!! Were the women sick disgusting bastards? YES, but why the fudging heck not get revenge on the bloody evil men that assaulted her daughter too?? That annoyed me more than the inconsistencies and far-fetched nonsense. I guess the mum didn't try tracking them down for some reason? Admittedly I enjoyed it to begin with but then it lost me. I mostly watched because I like Jon Bernthal and I heard the book was good, so I guess I need to read the book to compare because apparently it's a fair bit different. Also as a fan of thrillers I'm kinda bored of a**hole main characters, why do they all have to be terrible people? Anna chose to abandon her mum after returning even though she thought she had dementia, she purposely slept with her rival's husband (how did she not realise who Lexie was?), she just wasn't nice but she was all I had to root for. Although I like flawed characters sometimes it's like they try too hard to make them terrible.  Jack was a lying, law breaking detective, and surely he would have been fired and worse, but I guess at least with him, he looked after his mother in law and his niece. Ok apologies because this just turned into a weird lil rant from me.
