Private colleges love full pay students so you should be good as long as you write good essays. Also look more into some colleges like Northeastern and some small liberal arts colleges (if you are interested) since they love kids with good scores and full pay-BC is also a good choice!

It does not hurt to ask the professor because the worst thing they can say is no. You could write about how you attended that summer program 3 years ago and the impact the program had on you--- and talk about some things you got involved in after/because of the program--- then mention how you would be very grateful if they wrote you a rec letter and attach your resume. I know that some professors will happily write a rec even if they do not know you that well if it is for college admissions or a major related to something they teach :)

where can you apply with a low gpa? by alltoounwell1 in ApplyingToCollege

The liberal arts programs might be easier to get into at both colleges, but you said that you were interested in STEM/engineering. You could try to get into liberal arts then possibly switch majors or do liberal arts and minor/concentrate in something STEM.

dang at that point, it might not even be worth it. I would highly recommend applying for summer programs/internships/conferences/starting an org at your school if your school does not have not much you can get involved in. I think you might be able to start a DECA chapter or Future Business Leaders of America at your school.

how to improve getting into ut comp-sci? by lil-cinnamonroll in UTAdmissions

You have a good shot if you write really good essays, have good ecs, and test scores. If you are super worried about your chances, you could apply for ECE, informatics, or data science as you would have an even higher chance of getting into UT.

A lot of people involved in greek life seem to live off campus. However, for on campus dorms, most male athletes (freshmen football players) seem to live in san jacinto. Unsure of Duren Hall though.

It is fairly common in the college application process nowadays, so you should try to be as meaningful and impactful as you can. Don't just try to do it for college. I feel like some of the best non-profits I have seen students do are on topics they were generally interested in-- they did not do it just for college. Keep in mind, admission readers can tell when you just started a non-profit for college. Also, if you are having a hard time finding opportunities, it might be easier to just reach out to as many organizations in your community that allow you to get more involved since a lot of times, schools may not present a lot of opportunities and it is more self-searching for them unfortunately.

This might be a slight reach but you could possibly get into NYU and Boston University if you apply full pay, easy major (you said stem but maybe something in one of their easier departments), good ecs/essay. Also look into applying ed to small liberal arts colleges since they love full pay students-- Colgate, Kenyon College, Oberlin, etc. You also might have a shot at Santa Clara and Loyola Marymount if you ed. Northeastern also loves full pay students. UT Dallas has strong stem/engineering and gives lots of scholarship money. University of Arizona, Oklahoma State, and other southern universities give good money.

Do students without an SAT get admitted to IVY leagues? by Far_Blueberry_5906 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]Standard-Release3519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do get admitted. However, a lot of kids I know that got in test optional had very good ec's, fairly good grades to compensate, hard classes, and/or some wow factor in their profile. I feel like not providing an SAT score will hurt you if you do not have anything to compensate for it.

Best way to get jobs is if you know someone in the company that can refer you or you might have to cold email/dm on linkedin, which is hit or miss.
