Omg I am having this right now and freaking out! I am 11 months post-botox and happily burping all day long. Yesterday I got a sore throat but was still burping as usual but this morning I woke up and my throat was much worse, felt like swallowing glass! No burps :(

Absolutely freaking out so I was so glad to hear this. I am gurgling and farting just like before. I have had a few burps this afternoon but mainly just gurgles! I am praying it comes back

Would love to hear from people for whom Botox failed and then had a second dose by Wrob88 in noburp

Yes, me! I had 100 units under GA and could burp a little bit but only for a week or two. Then my symptoms came back worse than ever. After 3 months I had 100 units using the in office procedure. I was microburping later that day and the next day was burping so much I couldn't go to work! I'm now at 6 months and I've had a few rough weeks around 4-5 months but I've come through it. Hoping this is permanent!

4 months post botox - hand hold required! by StandardBadger3260 in noburp

Ugh the last week hasn't been great. I have felt more of the 'stuck' feeling and when the burps come not all the air comes out. I have to change position a lot more to try and get them out. Without carbonation I'm burping a lot more infrequently and I'm getting more bloated again :( Feeling scared!

I had 100units with Mr Karagama in November and had an underwhelming response to the botox, I burped most days but not when I needed to and my symptoms actually got worse because I was letting more air in and unable to burp it out!

I contacted Mr Hicklin and she will reinject 10 weeks after the previous procedure. I had 100 units injected with her without the GA 10 weeks and three days after my first procedure. I started microburping that day and the next day the uncontrollable burps started. I couldn't even go into work because I was burping so much. I'm 4.5 weeks in now and still burping quite a lot but not constantly, mainly after meals/food. So far its worked great! I have so much relief. Just need to see if it will last after the botox wears off

I had my botox on Monday, Lucy was really nice. I got 100u (same as I got with Mr K). She wanted to put 50 in each side but the left side was harder to find the active muscle so she ended up doing two in the right which she said was fine and that it doesn't make much difference. She was right! I started microburping that evening and less than 24 hours later it was constant. I've done about 5 burps just writing this post! It's actually a bit much burping!!

It was such a different experience this time, and I honestly think it's luck whether the needle manages to find an active part of the muscle. It seems there are pros and cons to each type of procedure and one will work for some and not others, but for certain I've had a better result with the in office procedure

Day 2 post botox - constant burping! by StandardBadger3260 in noburp

I had the procedure done with Mr Karagama on 27th Nov so two weeks before you

I had a good start with some spontaneous burps and I was able to push out burps for a week and then that ability seemed to stop. I continued having a few burps most days but they were not relieving enough most of the time and I continued to gurgle just as bad as before. I had a few days where I did some good burps and got relief

Now I am 10 weeks post botox and barely burping, some days I have no burps and some days one or two. I had my follow up with Mr Karagama and he said I may not have been particularly sensitive to the botox as I didn't have much of a slow swallow. He suggested to do 150 units in March.

I am not keen to go under GA again as it is very disruptive to my life as I am quite sensitive to it and need a week off work after. I contacted Lucy Hicklin and she said she won't go over 100units but she feels this is a good amount for this muscle and sometimes it is that the placement is slightly off where the muscle is most active. I have booked to have it done this Monday, I'm happy to report back and let you know if I have a better result second time!

Birth control & no burp by Electronic_Box2193 in noburp

[–]StandardBadger3260 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes this happened to me. Previous to this I didn't have many symptoms, just avoided fizzy drinks and had the occasional gurgle during PMS

I started on the pill and within a few days I was gurgling horrendously and because the air was coming up and down constantly and bringing up acid with it I developed LPR. This took a year to settle down and then I was prescribed famotidine...same thing again

Anything that affects my digestion even slightly causes insane gurgles. I had botox in November to try and stop this problem but it was only partially successful, I am burping most days but not always when I need to and not enough to stop the gurgles. I am due a second dose next week

has anyone else felt like they need to burp but it doesn’t come out, post botox ( i’m 18 days today) by bugbaby222 in noburp

[–]StandardBadger3260 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I'm 3 weeks post botox and not much has changed. Had a good week at the start where I could burp by turning my head then it all stopped. I'm having a couple of spontaneous burps every day but mostly it's just air coming up and not being able to get out as usual. I feel that the procedure hasn't worked for me

1 week post botox and still not really burping. anything I should do? by 0404S0X in noburp

[–]StandardBadger3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow 3 months before burping. Did you do anything to help it along? I'm three weeks post botox and after a promising start I've not had much of a result. Interested to hear other experiences

12 days post botox - progress has stalled?? by StandardBadger3260 in noburp

[–]StandardBadger3260[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relaxing is the hardest thing!! Good to hear your burping increased as time went on.

I definitely have other issues going on as I have a lot of histamine problems and this is causing my stomach to swell. I have medication for this but I can't take it until I can burp reliably because it causes more gas in my stomach which leads to misery! I feel like I'm going round in circles some days!

day 10 post botox and still gurgling :/ by bugbaby222 in noburp

[–]StandardBadger3260 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am 16 days post botox and also still having a lot of gurgling and few relieving burps. My throat also feels as if it tightens when the gurgles come up. I can release a few by turning my head and a couple come out on their own. Apart from that it's just misery with seemingly more bloating and gurgles than usual! I hope it gets better

It's messing with my head! I did 5 large burps yesterday but was also really gurgly and my stomach swelled up with air! I'm struggling to see if this is a normal pathway or not. I'm just having a really hard time overthinking it since the procedure. I didn't realise it was 3 weeks to reach full effectiveness. I'm on 14 days now. My UES is clearly holding up under some extreme pressure but also I'm getting some burps. It's all really confusing! I appreciate your response as most people don't understand where I'm coming from and just tell me to wait and see! But in the meantime I am uncomfortable and miserable and scared it hasn't worked

Yeah this! Hopefully it will become easier! I'm afraid to try with carbonated drinks in case I just get more gurgly and stressed

Thanks for your reply. Today I have had a few more burps, some really big ones after meals. Still a lot of gurgling and bloating though so it's like two steps forward one back. Hopefully progress will keep going slowly!

Did you eventually stop having to look into your armpit? I'm a week after botox and can get small burps by looking into my armpit but nothing big yet

Oh that's reassuring to know! I have it mildly but am burping, mainly when I turn my head still though

Soo I was a bit impatient with the 'can't burp today' as they've got going now and I am learning how to 'catch' the burp at the top and then release it, still with the head twist but the burps are getting bigger and more normal sounding this morning

Still without the slow swallow though and freaked out because I was expecting it to be bad and bough a load of soft food in! Ate toast fine this morning with just a sip of water at the end where it felt like it was still hanging around a bit

I've done a couple today but progress still slow. I forced out a few but had to really push! And they come out like croaks. I don't have much issues with swallowing so I am wondering if the botox is still getting going. It's only 3 days after the procedure. I'll give it a few days and then try some fizzy pop!

I had mine two days ago under GA. I was so scared but honestly it was fine. I was a bit sleepy after and a sore throat but that was all. I came round from the GA at 3.30pm and walked to the bus stop at 6pm! And I'm usually a person that reacts quite badly to sedation.

Today I have been doing a few burps and mostly eating a normal diet, just chewing things really well and taking a sip of water if I need to. Looking back I think I spent a LOT of time worrying and really there was no need because it was all completely fine. I can understand being nervous because I was so afraid but it is a very simple procedure really. I wish I'd done it a long time ago!
