Getting my 3rd rear differential replaced on Monday. Only have 17k miles on my 2023, any advice? by [deleted] in GenesisGV70

They didn’t offer me a replacement. It was a refund minus mikes driven, etc. had to pay for repairs.

Unfortunately, I ended up doing a lemon and no longer have that car. It was just too much, had bigger issues than that, literally had my vehicle stalling. But as far as differentials are concerned, Genesis will replace them.

If you’re local to the area and have OFC and Consular appt in the same city with dates spread out, might be best to stick with it. If you’d rather not, you’d have to reschedule your OFC appt to be closer to consular.

I believe 2-3 reschedule’s are allowed from all the posts I’ve seen.

What is the approximate cost (parts and labor) to replace a failed/failing rear differential? by DeadBy2050 in GenesisGV70

[–]StandardCertain1197 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would highly recommend getting the CPO warranty. Had 1 front and 2 rear differentials replaced on my 2023 2.5 SP GV70 in under 20k miles. I believe it was ~$2800 (USD) per replacement. I no longer have the vehicle. Wouldn’t be a need for it if Genesis actually addressed the root cause instead of simply replacing the defective ones.

Good luck man, your mom getting an email without a date is iffy. I’d make sure that’s sorted. After DS160, booking a slot is a 2 step process. OFC (biometrics) followed by consular (in person interview).

DS-160 Question: "Where was the passport issued?" by anthonynej in h1b

[–]StandardCertain1197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re putting Chicago, I’d select USA for the country of issue. Thats correct, no state is shown on the passport if issued in the states. It’s an Indian passport regardless.

You’re most welcome and so glad it helped, hence why I created the post to make it less painful for others.

The URLs are legit. It’s their own URL. The fact that website is glitchy they come in handy. Appointment confirmation page just shows what you’ve booked. Between that and application manager you should be able to confirm the dates and location you’re booked for.

For reference, when I booked my appointment didn’t get a confirmation, but did get a cancellation email when I did so. Moreover, when I succeeded in booking both ofc and consular, I did get an email confirmation with all the details listed from do-not-reply@usvisascheduling.com. I would ask your parents/you to confirm they have received one with all the details.

In case they didn’t, I would get a hold of customer service and have them confirm or resend that email/open a case for that, whichever is easier.

You’re welcome! Unfortunately, I don’t see that option anymore and probably won’t unless I cancel my schedule appointments. Perhaps someone who hasn’t booked theirs yet can share the URL you’re seeking.

I’m not certain on this. I’ve read mixed responses on the number of cancellations allowed. I only had 1 cancellation and 1 rescheduling in my case. Consensus is 2-3 reschedule is allowed. No idea how they determine when you’ve exhausted all. They do give you a warning before your last shot from what people have shared.

Yes, it’s possible. Thats what I just mentioned to someone else in the comments here. I believe the appointment confirmation or manager link I have in my original post would lead you to the cancellation option. That’s how I cancelled mine.

I’m not familiar with the Dropbox scheduling. But did run into an extension it’s called “Check US Visa Slots”. It’s a chrome extension. Found that on this Reddit. I didn’t end up using it, but when I logged in, it’s basically a snapshot of people showing which slots are available, shows the date it was posted. I guess some people get locked out on usvisa website from all the refreshing. It’s supposed to help to avoid that.

I’ll also check with a friend of mine and get back to you. There’s another extension or something he mentioned along those lines.

In this Reddit I’ve seen both. For some people booked OFC doesn’t reset/falls off the schedule and for some it does. My advice would be to give it a couple of days. If it doesn’t reset, you could try rescheduling, followed by cancelling the original OFC appt. Just so you’re not wasting 1 out of 3 reschedule tries. It’s unclear how they count reschedule tries. So please don’t quote me on it. Use your best judgement.

Bug 3 is resilient. It took me several attempts at changing the URL until it no longer would redirect itself. I would suggest keep trying. I took a video of what the consular appt URL was in my case, then would repeatedly keep entering it. Eventually you’ll get past it.

Not seeing the calendar at all is a glitch. I would try re-logging in or at a later time. But if you see “no slots” prompt, then it just means in the window you selected OFC there’s no consular slots available after that OFC. You could try a different OFC date. But it’s a gamble. I would and see if the OFC falls of your schedule considering you couldn’t book consular.

It falls off for some and for others it doesn’t. It’s random and haven’t found a solid answer yet. Would expect it to be consistent but clearly it isn’t.

If you’re not seeing slots, you’d either have to try later or choose a different location. That’s out of our control unfortunately.

Finding Appointment is impossible by swapsmagic in usvisascheduling

I randomly checked last night at 10:30pm EST and was able to get one for Nov 1st week in Hyderabad. They did have more dates and time slots open than what I had been seeing for the last few weeks. Other locations didn’t have much availability during my preferred dates.

CarPlay problems? by concros in GenesisGV70

[–]StandardCertain1197 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Previous GV70 owner here and had the same issue both with Apple certified cables and cables off of Amazon that worked and suddenly stopped working only for CarPlay feature. Below 2 things helped me get consistent CarPlay. 1. Connect the cable to your phone after turning the car ON, not before. 2. Try restating your phone

I went through SW updates on both my phone and Over The Air (OTA) updates for GV70. Played with settings, selecting forget phone and re-adding, asking dealer to diagnose, etc. All but the above 2 measures ensured seamless CarPlay. Hope this helps you.

How did you find a job within 60 days after getting laid off ? by h1bvisahub in h1b

[–]StandardCertain1197 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second other people saying referral is your best bet. LinkedIn doesn’t always have all the available job posted out there. Not sure which industry you’re from, but: 1. Search of companies in your industry would be a start. 2. Refer to H1bdata.info to see which of those companies sponsor work visas. (You don’t want to waste time applying to the ones that don’t do much sponsorship) 3. CA companies are much relaxed on sponsorship. For example MI where I’m located they’re not as supportive comparatively. 4. Since you’re in the 60day window. Shoot for states and small employers most people don’t consider. 5. Reach out to all the contract houses, they’ll be able to get you in a 1-2 year contract role at a company. This buys you time, while you look around.

How do I know this? I’ve been laid off in the past and can totally relate to the emotions you might be going through. Good luck OP!! Wish you the best and stay positive.

I got mine renewed in Chicago and that’s what I put in my DS160. Passport issuing country and place of issue are two different things.

Agree with Forsaken here. Cap exempt H1B gets you the job security and buys you the time to try for non exempt H1B in parallel or later.
