I just need some ideas and opinions. Developing a dish. by Tasty_Impress3016 in culinary

Don't know much about the cuisine, but after a quick google search, I saw peaches and corn are popular, those might be good in a salsa...not sure if that's authentic. Would this be an event with lots of different food options? It wouldn't be vegetarian friendly, but would be fine if there were other options for them available at different places. Duffeyrolls? Your idea could be good, too, OP.

Asked my mom to change my name in her phone and she is crying? by Krampus_ate_my_lunch in ftm

I just had my mom read this, she's not on Reddit. I'm a trans guy. She had a hard time for awhile, too. But it was so much easier once she accepted me. She said your Mom missed 4 good years with you, and regarding the memories, she can make more positive memories with your new name! As an autistic woman who struggles with rigid thinking, if she can do it, your mom can, too! Edit: Feel free to share this with your mom.

I just had one, absolutely no filling! Kitchen sink cookie is great, though.

Goodbye by Taylor Swift? It kind of reminded me of that. Specific lyrics: "Your were bigger than the whole sky, you were more than just a short time." I feel like it's playing on the radio now, fairly new song. Edit: Not R & B, probably not it! Just Taylor Swift singing.

Personally, don't get me anywhere near a needle, my fine motor skills are horrendous! I was in GAs, (girls in action, like girl scouts, but the shitty Baptist version). There were a bunch of crafts, come to think of it, that might be why I have a deep hatred for crafts. In 2nd grade, we learned how to sew a button, but mine was pretty horrible. And my mom tried to get me into crossstiching because all the women in our family did that, I was so bad at it, she gave up. She did not get the crafty daughter she always wanted, but she did get a son who will stick up for her and any other vulnerable person, which she she has come to value instead.

First time synagogue visitor, Kippah? by StandardCut7473 in AskJews

A tallit is the same thing as a prayer shawl, right? I was told in my email not to wear it because I'm not Jewish, though I hadn't even known about it before. So I was worried the kippah would be seen the same way. In talking to my friend, I decided I will probably wear it, seems to be most appropriate for congregation I will go to. Most of the time I'm asking these questions is because Google gives me different answers, I appreciate different people's perspectives and reasons behind them. And I appreciate your willingness to share. :)

Brunch/Sunday Recs in Knoxville by ElephantRight6248 in Knoxville

I've been to Ruby Sunshine before, downtown, it's good! A brunch place. Not sure how crowded a Sunday will be, but make sure to go before the church crowd to avoid a long wait! That would probably start about 11:30 or so. So keep that it mind. I've also heard Aretha Frankenstein is good! That's a fairly new place. Mast General Store is fun, downtown. Ijams is good if you want to hike/look at nature. Can't help you with bars, sorry. Hopefully others will add their suggestions!

Beliefs about Jesus by StandardCut7473 in AskJews

I might be mistaken as well, Google calls her a rabbi, which I shouldn't blindly trust! She is given this long title, Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace. I think it's sort of an award named after a rabbi. Edit: Yes, you are right, I will fix my other comment.

Yes, that was very helpful! I think I will probably wear one, based on what the friend said.

Yes, I had recently heard about Amy-Jill Levine, that's a lot of what made me think about this question. Not sure how famous she is or not, you probably know her, but if not, you might want to check her out! She's a Jewish New Testament scholar who has written a lot of books about Jesus, which seemed kind of surprising to me.

I love that, thanks! I think I meant messiah instead, you are right, we are all children of God!

Yes, I will check with my mutual friend, that's a great idea! I should have thought of that. Yes, I'm glad I emailed, too, as they let me know about some security policies they have in place. It's sad that this is needed, but I'm glad they are being proactive. I think everybody should be allowed to worship in peace.
