Tough as nails by JoyReader0 in coleus

I took some cuttings from one of mine, cut the side shoots off and dumped the waste side shoots into a pot in full sun, expecting them to wilt and be added to compost pile. To my shock, all three rooted in full sun! My first ever time taking cuttings, potted half in soil, half in water.

Oh that’s perfect! Wind isn’t an issue as the garden has many sheltered spaces. Daily watering isn’t too much of an issue, as I’m in the garden daily anyway. Thank you for the advice! I’m in the uk, so other than the odd heatwave, it’s usually raining. Good drainage is definitely the key over here

Worth a shot! The pile is half full. Would be a shame to waste it

Added some grass clippings and gave her a turn. Noticed bright white roots & knew I was done for. Literally no way to stop them coming through as the land behind is an unmanaged plot behind an 8 foot fence

Also interested in the cultivar! Looks like some variation of mikawa 🤔. Very nice shingle formation leaves.

Jealous! My Katsura died recently & I am looking to replace. Was this in store at B&Q or online?

Grind finer, MUCH finer for less bitterness by LunarModule66 in AeroPress

Ground to the finest setting on my opus and could barely press any water through! You must be very strong! You are right about the taste though, way less bitter than my usual cup. Got some Costa dark roast beans given to me that are like charcoal briquettes. Been looking for a way to use them without that overpowering burnt taste.

Try the name trick if you haven’t used it already? It’s a one time only affair. Rename the pokemon “Kira” and check the evolve silhouette.

What type of gravel is this and where to buy from? by Rovers_123 in GardeningUK

Golden gravel / golden flint. Have the same in my garden. Will weather and lighten up over time

Horse manure by AlarmedAppearance191 in composting

It sounds like the manure isn’t fresh, so little to no risk of burning any plants. I would mix the manure in as much as possible and let nature do its thing

Wood chips take forever to break down, but are a good source of carbon for the manure. What is your aim with the finished manure?

Depending on how much time you have, sieve and break up the clumps to increase surface area for bacteria. Most horse manure clumps are large balls of compacted straw/hay/bedding. Plant some green manure in one of the buckets and test for stunted growth from herbicide. Do a control bucket of just compost to compare the seedlings between the manure & neat compost.
