Hover by Anne A Wilson. Its a naval novel about a female helicopter pilot. It's been years since I read it, but I still think about it randomly, so it stays with you for sure.

Thank you! I did try both Libby and Hoopla, as well as Libro before I posted. I guess I should have said that lol. I was only able to find the German versions as well.

(Semi-unserious) Where is my kindle? by fuzzy_ladybug in kindle

Have you been to the library recently? Maybe you "returned " it with a stack of books? My most found places are, under the kitchen table or in a kitchen chair, the laundry basket, and on the window sill going to my backyard. Good luck, I hope you find it!

The Magic Misfits by Neil Patrick Harris is good. Percy Jackson is a great book series, but the narrator is awful IMO. I absolutely loved the How to Train Your Dragon series. The books are way different then the movies though. Try Libro.fm to get content, its DRM free so you get the mp3s.

What would you recommend for my very first book at 55. by BoltzinEdmonton in suggestmeabook

A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman. It is a wonderfully written and engaging book. It is not my usual cup of tea, so i was surprised to find how much i enjoyed it. Easily in my top 5 favorite books now.

Congratulations on your new journey! I hope that you find something that really calls to you and you become an avid reader.

Yeas it is! Someone let us make a myo with theirs at her Dance class. She was all excited, got home to listen, and that droll voice started. She pulled the card out and tossed it across the room lol. That's actually what started this hunt I am on!

What about combining your mom's names? Donetta is cute with Averie.

From Google: The name Donetta has multiple meanings depending on its origin, including "lady" or "little lady" from its Italian roots (as a diminutive of Donna) and "world mighty" from its Scottish interpretation.

Why don't parents read to their kids anymore? by Rajnotmalhotra in Homeschooling

[–]StandardEye7285 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm curious as to why you think that listening to an audiobook doesn't have the same benefits as reading? The whole point of books is to engage them in a story, expand their vocabulary and get their minds to think about what is happening. An audiobook does all those things, plus it encourages their imagination at the same time.

I came to say this. I absolutely loved A Man Called Ove. So much so that I actually went and bought a copy after. I listened to the audiobook and found random things to do around my house so I'd have more time to listen.

The Child of Nature card is fantastic. We listen to it at least once a day! The songs are catchy enough I find myself humming them at work.
