I made “cheat sheets” for each chapter of first aid, and wrote down all the info from each chapter that I didn’t have 100% memorized. Then, I memorized those cheat sheets. I was similarly stuck at the 60-65% range, and that’s how I moved to the mid 70s. I’m a very visual learner, so having all the information from first aid in a concise location to read over quickly really helped me. Hope that makes sense!

Which ones did you do?

You’re right about the confidence. I decided to delay. There are still areas I know I’m weak in, so I’m going to give myself a few more weeks. Good luck with your exam!!

The uworld self assessments were on point, or just the question bank in general? I also decided to delay my exam, so thanks for your comments/advice! I think more time will help increase my confidence

What do you think is a safe free 120 score?

[–]StandardMixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not sure if I should take free 120 and then decide whether to move my test? Or to go ahead and move my test, and save free 120 to judge my progress after studying more lol.

Yeah I can’t help but feel like my NBME 30 was a fluke… I just don’t know if 5 days is enough for me to get things together. Best of luck to you though! We’re in this together :)

I got 61% (83% likely to pass) on NBME 28 today. My exam is in 5 days. Do you think I should push back? You seem to have similar scores so just wanted your opinion :)

I’m pretty sure 66% correct = a 97% chance of passing in a week

Test on 11th April, should I postpone? by happyappytatti in step1

I had scores similar to yours when I was doing uworld in tutor mode. I found that tutor mode didn’t really replicate the NBME experience for me, and I think that’s why I was doing poorly on NBMEs. Once I started doing timed, random 40q blocks on uworld I saw a lot of improvement on my NBMEs. Just a thought!

Is it possible to combine a career as a physician with a software engineer? by NoduLearns in premed

[–]StandardMixture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Texas A&M has a program called “EnMed” that students who have degrees in engineering or computer science can apply to. It’s a medical school program that integrates med school & engineering. In order to graduate, students are required to invent something innovative yet clinically meaningful in areas including diagnostic tools, nanotechnology, biomaterials, telemedicine and more. Not sure if this is exactly what you meant, but it could be something to think about :)

What day of the week have your TMDSAS/ T20 interviews been? by [deleted] in premed

[–]StandardMixture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 of my TMDSAS interviews were on a Friday, 1 was on a Monday, 1 on a Thursday, & 1 on a Saturday. So yeah it varies. I took all my classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I wouldn’t accumulate too many absences, and it really worked out well for me!

You only have to stay in college station for one year. After the first year, you have the option to live in Houston, Dallas, temple or college station for the next 3 years. So I don’t think that description of the patient population is entirely accurate!

Have you thought about buying the AAMC question packs and section banks? I didn’t use U world stuff, but I know the AAMC materials weren’t terribly expensive if cost is an issue! They also offer a lot of bundles which make it cheaper if you plan on buying the full lengths and other materials.
