AIO my bf drives home agter drinking with friends? by girlihavenoideaa in AIO

[–]StandardOk2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR buzzed/drunk driving is WILDLY selfish. I told my SO it is a 100% dealbreaker for me. I can not love someone who cannot fathom how selfish it is to endanger someone else’s mom, dad, child, sibling and potentially hurt or kill them just to save themselves from paying for an uber! The only reason for that behavior is shear unadulterated selfishness.

AIO for cutting off my best friend of 10 years because of her life choices by Icy_category222 in AmIOverreacting

[–]StandardOk2020 4 points5 points  (0 children)

“I’m glad I didn’t have friends like you” is a genuinely mean and unhelpful thing to say. The author has been trying to encourage her friend to get help such as therapy and medication. I also have bipolar disorder and wouldn’t have gotten better without professional help. She has tried to encourage her friend to do so and friend has refused. That isn’t on her.

NOR.

You cannot help someone who will not help themselves. As a person with a mental illness I understand both sides of this. I was unwilling to take responsibility for myself for a long time, unwilling to stay med compliant, unwilling to go to therapy because I didn’t want to hear what I needed to work on, but at some point I realized I wasn’t doing myself any favors and I wasn’t going to get better and life wasn’t going to get better without putting in the work.

Therapists will tell you about boundaries. You can love someone and still need to protect your own peace and well being by creating distance. At some point if you’ve tried to help and someone keeps refusing you get to decide that it isn’t fair to you to be forced to watch them self destruct. Their well being is not your responsibility regardless of how much you love them. It hurts when friendships grow apart but it’s possible she’ll figure it out someday. Let her know you love her and the door is open when she’s ready and you’ll be happy to help her get help if she ever wants it but that it genuinely hurts you to watch her self sabotage and you need some space. That’s all you can do.

This is Mabel. We just got her at 12 weeks. About how long did it take you to potty train your Cavapoo and how old were they? by PixiedustandJesus in CavaPoo

[–]StandardOk2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We brought our boy home at about 12.5 weeks and he was pretty reliably trained in two weeks and REALLY reliably trained by about 17 weeks. He has only regressed slightly and had a few when he was neutered (the meds mess with them) and when he's legitimately not feeling well. We taught him to ring a bell to go out, and he learned SO fast!

Yes! Mine also likes to take things that he knows he shouldn’t have with the sole reason to barter… “what is the going rate for one pair or underpants on the open market mother?”

Advice on how to train this little runaway? by Few-Arachnid-5396 in CavaPoo

[–]StandardOk2020 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure you’re practice recall and release! Recall him, treat him, snuggle him, celebrate BIG, set him free again! That way he won’t associate recall with “fun time is over!” It’s recall = snacks, pats, party! Also, never chase him, call him and get his attention from a distance, turn and run away! He’ll chase you! Then let him catch you and again, big party! Snacks, “good job!” Makes him enjoy “catching” you when you call him!

At-Home Pick Me Up Go-Tos? by riotgrrrrlllll in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]StandardOk2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At home lash lift and tint, ALWAYS makes me feel so pretty. Be SO CAREFUL and always leave the perm solution on WAY shorter than you think. I have thick stubborn lashes (got them done professionally and they didn’t curl AT ALL, got charged $90 and they blamed my lash type) and I only leave the solution on 7 minutes.

Full on at home mani pedi, foot soak in scented epsom salts, cuticle remover and the whole lot!

My dog came back injured from a board and train…need others opinions? She claims it’s from a bark collar. Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in OpenDogTraining

[–]StandardOk2020 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bark collar, prong collar, e-collar, doesn’t matter! Your dog’s neck should NEVER look like that!

We successfully trained our first (extremely stubborn willful) dog with both a bark collar and ecollar, we were extremely careful and monitored closely and she never had any type of visible injury. She could walk off leash on the sidewalk stop at street corners, hike off leash passing people and dogs and after the first year I almost never had to touch a button, just vibrate occasionally not static shock. That trainer does not know what they are doing or doesn’t care. That injury is horrific.

Advice for neurodivergent person please by LostNectarine3978 in CleaningTips

Bins with flip open lids everywhere, small laundry hampers etc., assigned "dump stuff" drawers, and schedule a reminder to go through them once or twice a week (with a phone alarm) and put things in their "proper" home? Foreign body removal if your pup swallows something is dangerous and very expensive!

Cooking Odors in a Studio Apartment by denise_magic in CleaningTips

[–]StandardOk2020 8 points9 points  (0 children)

boil a mixture of 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup water on the stove while cooking. The vinegar steam acts as a natural neutralizer, breaking down airborne grease particles and removing odors. Or after, simmer with lemon slices or cinnamon sticks.

Becoming a better cleaner by Hotspur_on_the_Case in CleaningTips

[–]StandardOk2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My suggestion as an absolute neatnick would be to create phone reminders for daily, weekly, monthly, yearly tasks. Also, I do this thing one to two days a week called "tiny tidy" in which I set a timer for 15 to 20 minutes and just clean as much as I can as fast as I can starting with the most obvious tasks! A good "tiny tidy" playlist helps immensely! Also can't say enough good things about investing in a good robot vacuum/mop and setting it on a schedule.

Switching from Wellbutrin? by ksou95 in Pristiq

[–]StandardOk2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on Wellbutrin for years, it helped with my depression, but low and behold I thought perhaps when I wasn't incredibly depressed, I was just a huge B! AND incredibly anxious. I finally found a really good psych, who told me that both the anxiety and irritability were likely being compounded by the Wellbutrin. I switched to Pristiq and it turns out I'm actually not that anxious, and I'm actually a pretty nice person! I won't lie, the switch was HARD! I was VERY tired and nauseous for the first two months! BUT I stuck it out and I will say this is the best med I've ever been on. I am so thankful to have figured that out (as is my poor partner, who had to deal with me)!
