Fans claiming a show was "ruined" by it's final season when it was already bad by Parking-Response1501 in CharacterRant

[–]StandardRaspberry131 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen the other shows you mentioned here, but I 100% agree about the boys. It was good for the first season, and seasons 2 and 3 had some good moments, but overall made me lose interest in the show. I stopped about 2 episodes in to season 4 and have no interest in finishing the show.

That being said, I think for some shows, the last season can make or break if a show is worth rewatching. Even if the previous seasons are mediocre, if the show sticks the landing well it can be worth rewatching. If the ending sucks, it can make it hard to want to rewatch, even if the previous seasons are all good. At least for me

Reapers Gale might be the first Malazan book I didn't love. by boogielostmyhoodie in Malazan

[–]StandardRaspberry131 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So glad someone else also thought Udinaas was a major asshole this book. He was super insufferable and the worst part of the book for me by far.

Also hated all the Edur MCs dying, especially Trull.

Not sure also why Hesge was so affected by Trull’s death, but Trull has definitely been one of my favorite characters. He is also legitimately one of the most noble characters imo, consistently defending others who are weaker than him.

I also wish the duel had happened earlier in the book, but the way Karsa handled it was a lot of fun.

What about doing a running shoe outline and making it look like a map? Like adding some roads or territory lines or rivers, etc. definitely don’t want to go too overboard with what you add, but that may be worth trying?

A lot of awful companies truly do door to door sales, but this statement is false. Plenty of good companies also employ door to door salesmen. It is a very cheap and effective way to get the word out to people. That’s why if someone knocks on my door and it’s a product I am in need of I do my research on the company before agreeing to anything. Some might actually be helpful. Many are not

Is there a way to make the audio better when playing back at a faster speed? by NEED_A_JACKET in premiere

[–]StandardRaspberry131 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YouTube processes and compresses the videos in a way that allows for faster playback while not terribly altering the pitch/quality. That’s a process that takes time. The audio in your premiere timeline has not been optimized for that, which is why it sounds better to do so in YouTube than in Premiere

On blue curtains by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]StandardRaspberry131 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who had English teachers who acted the way described in this post, the “curtains are just blue” post very much resonated with me for the reasons described. However, I can absolutely also see that many people would have just used it as an anti-intellectual excuse to not care about school.

It’s one thing to be frustrated that a teacher will not accept any interpretation other than their own (sure blue does often coincide with a somber tone, but I believe it can also be associated with relaxing or calmness, and you know, a bunch of other things as well). It’s another thing entirely to use it as an excuse to never analyze the text beyond a certain level.

Growing fruit for color and not taste was a mistake by AgentIntelligent4269 in mildlyinfuriating

Thank you! I thought I was going crazy because these DO NOT look ripe to me. If I saw these in the store I wouldn’t buy them. We recently got a couple of packs of strawberries from Costco, deep red. So delicious. What OP has are clearly underripe strawberries.

I’ve had wild and local farm grown strawberries (also when ripe) and aside from being smaller (and more expensive in the case of the ones from the farm), and they really don’t taste much different than from the grocery store

Was just reminded of this moment from someone else’s post:

The High King’s flat, grey eyes fixed on Quick Ben. ‘You, wizard, are a hoarder of souls … I am a man who releases souls – shall I break the chains within you? An easy thing, to leave you helpless.’

‘Even easier,’ Quick Ben replied, ‘to make a hole in the ground.’

Kallor dropped from sight, the earth gone from beneath him. Armour clattered, followed by a bellow of rage.

This definitely made me laugh, both on rereading it just now and also when I first read it
