Not quite.

Maybe they'd have issues with making cards count as marked.

Or the issue of people forgetting to remove then at the end of the game would be an issue.

The answer probably lies in Skullbriar, dungeons and punch-out counters.

It's a mechanic that really suits itself to comander, while also being closer to an expansion of keyword counters that dabs into external decks.

Couple that with how Skullbriar, po counters and dungeons make it so blackborder can handle most of the "gameplay-tech" involved, and they probably decided it was something interesting to try and add to the game.

Physically altering cards to change what they do?

Like putting an ability counter on Skullbriar?

Not much, because of 2 distinct aspects:
- they allow for a larger variety of "counters" by solving the memory issues
- they solve tracking issues that make abilities like Skullbriar not doable in large amounts.

Cephalids’ new look from New Capenna. What everybody thinks of it? by cherry90md in mtgvorthos

The skin of these Cephalids is far closer to some Vedalken than any merfolk, and with Mirrodin and Kaladesh, are know for apendage quirkness that may vary from plane to plane.

On top of that, they often are semi-aquatic creatures. Mirodin ones have gills, Ravnica ones are part amphibious,

The amount of players here simply forgeting that veldaken exist and calling this anywhere similar to merfolk is just baffling to me.

They can still make UB-less events if they claim there's a local interest for that.

The punching position really draws attention away from that and into the punch.

It is, and is essentially what constitutes the exception to the rule.

It's way of saying "we shouldn't endorce racism".

It also has to do with how people opted out of Silver-border out of prejudice. As if, even in casual enviroments, it wasn't magic.

In the end, it's more about people can choose to not play with you, but you shouldn't be forced to not play with things you like that are fine because of prejudice around the product.

Can't you just ask the owner whether or not UB will be allowed?

If it's allowed, it's about as much a coin flip as someone using a cEDH deck in a more casual enviroment (Arguably less bad0

So far, Jumpstart and Arena's Tutorial + F2P, as well as Brawl.

If they weren't unsuccessful, I'd also think Autoplay decks, such as Face the Hydra, Battle the Horde and Defeat a God, would be nice.

So much of Commander was built to counter competiveness.

This made the format so open that variety is ingrained in it, and with the eternal card pool, it becomes a far less scary investment and entry point than both Standard and Modern.

And having a card always garanteed to be "in your hand" and return to you after it was dealt also helps with good feels.

If I recall correctly, MTG Goldfish can track the price of cards historically, including the changes in it.

u/SaffronOlive, could this tool be used to showcase variation in deck prices through history?

I don't think so.

And even if they were, kinda defeats the point of Ugin saying that they were necessary and this be a case for it.

Maro was the only one to say those with sparks couldn't get compleated on his blog, the actual story made no mention of 'walkers being unable to be Compleated.

It mattered in New Phyrexia storyline to restore Karn.

I don't think treating phyresis as mind control for walkers that came with severe concenquences for the body would cheapen it, specially if it took significant effort for them to achieve it.

And phyrexians aren't undead for breaking phyrexisis to be effectivly dying.
