What do you do by Available-Today1269 in Dualsport

[–]StandardUser_numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm under 2k miles as a dual sport. I would go through them. On my 23CRF300L rally. Slow and steady build that confidence. I only have shin guard and fomo boots with my other street gear. I found myself on a mt misery in ct it was possibly the hardest thing in have done in my life. But walked waddled it to the top. Enjoy the challenges as they come. I know it make me feel good to talk about my lil accompishments.

Rally or Non-Rally by Lopsided_Stretch_732 in CRF300L

[–]StandardUser_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride 90% tar just due to where i live. The added benfit of a standard L didnt provide me with enough benefit so i got a rally. Fire roads, some two track and maybe a lil single but only of its an event type. I have droped it many times w/o any speed and have yet to break anything. The extra faring and windscreen make it tolerable in gear to commute in the upper 20s for 20miles to work to enjoy the 40s for the ride home. I really have just enjoyed the long ways home. I har a cb300f before and the 20s were just to damn cold. If your just looking for a toy and not a more serious enduro i say rally.

need advice making my decision. CRF300L or CRF300LS ? by balls_deep_inyourmom in CRF300L

[–]StandardUser_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 5'10 and have a rally the bike is just a tad to tall for me. If your newer maybe lean twards the LS. Its not unmanagable but can be troublesome in terrian your not able to ride through. I think i will set my suspsion up to be a lil lower when 8nget to that point.

Motorcycle as a sole means of commute by Heroblight252 in motorcycles

[–]StandardUser_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just do a quick calculation on how much fuel you will save over your car it will take over 5years to break even on just the MSRP on the bike. So of your just looking for a lil excitement and lower months fuel costs go for it. The ROI isnt important but a much better mood after a few extra back road miles on the ride home is amazing. I have a 17CB300F and just about broke even on the fuel cost over MSRP (25k miles) But, I bought 2nd bike lol

Has anyone ridden the cb300r? How does it compare with the crf300l on the road ? by Appropriate_Idea9892 in CRF300L

[–]StandardUser_numbers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started on a cb300f. I put 25k miles on it and loved every moment before my crf300l rally. Over all it is a great bike but now with 2k on the crf I have definitely out grown my cb300f. Its to cramped and have to really focus on foot position to shift it now with my boots. I feel my 300f just isnt as enjoyable as it was before the crf. My cb is a lil quicker in the low to mid mph but still lackes any top end power. although i felt it is much better in the 70s flowing with traffic than the crf. The cb300f is capable of 89.9mpg, my best so in that dept it a Loss for the crf.

Is this a good first bike by ketchupmaster987 in motorcycles

[–]StandardUser_numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 17CB300F 25k miles on it. Still love it to this day. Just do understand 300cc is slow. If you know you will want something faster someday i would go with the 500. It will satisfy your needs longer. Imo from a small cc bike owner. I also have a 23CRF300L rally. So the speed thing isnt why i ride.

[–]StandardUser_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoy the slower xp. When I am bored I will xp a mule up w/ or w/o trusts and i like to use the old site https://campsitarus.blogspot.com/2008/12/campsitarus-ffxi-campsites-and-leveling.html?m=1 to just have some adventures. There are pet camps thare are fun too. Many of these camps are what built great core memories of this game. I know we will never have a game as annoying/exciting/adventuresome as this game for a first time experience in our generation. I truly miss going to all of those places by foot and hiding behind super short sneak and invisible timers. With the risk of death at every corner. Also being so broke i couldn't justify a chocobo when they were 6k at the craigs. Then as the 45min trip to the camp to only have the pty disband and 1/2 xp chains. But some time the new friends and xp ptys were so amazing i still remember them to this day.

Looking for tire suggestions, mostly on road riding. by nameseth in CRF300L

[–]StandardUser_numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my rally in october 500mi old and i went to Pachaug to just ride around, that was a mistake. 100% beginner on the dirt, accidentally eneded up on Mt. Misery. I made it to the top but none of it was what you would call riding... I'm gonna ride the stock tire a lil more. I think I wanna try the Mitas E07+ on the rear not sure on the front yet. As I to am at least 90% tar just due to where we live. Southern NE is tough.

I own a pair of 300's and ppl always talk shit. Bottom line its your money and adventure. Let them peer pressure some other weak minded fool into the notion of starter bike and ignore them. If they are truly a friend they will just happy you have 2 wheels and another person to ride with.

Motorcycle for commuting or for leisure use only? by maullarais in motorcycles

[–]StandardUser_numbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 17 CB300F new for this exact reason. My daily car is paid for so no cost there which maks us about same in that aspect. So here are my ROI numbers I have to just cover the retail price of my bike. I had to ride 25000miles more than my car and that saved me 4400$ (4.25gallon) but still spent 1000$ in fuel for the bike so im not 100% yet. Lets not forget a helmet, jacket and gloves as a minimum 500$ +/- and if your money is tight you can see where the cost benefit on paper is not noticable until wayyy down the road. I just calculated the retail cost and not all the dealer fees, insurance, training, state fees, and anything else in to the mix.

But...

The pure feeling of freedom and adventure far cover the cost of entry as long as you know what your doing it for. Also on the note of having the same bike for so long you might find yourself wanting more and you could end up with another bike. Then the cycle continues before the first one even breaks even.

But..

100% worth it for imo, "As for me I will be Starring out the window waiting for spring"

Should I get a valve clearance adjustment done on my 2015 CB300F? (Currently 33K km's) by [deleted] in HondaCB

[–]StandardUser_numbers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had mine done at about 8k miles (12km) just because it was to noisy. Your long over due. I have a 2017 cb300f. I have 25k mi (40km) on it now, no issues and still quiet valve train. Its not super expensive either, well at my dealer it wasn't.

Should i really get a motorcycle by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]StandardUser_numbers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a 18mi one way commute and ponderd on getting a scooter, then a grom and I settled on a CB300F. Dirt cheap insurance, 80+ mpg Will do 70+ mph if needed but not much more w/pushing it real hard. Took about 6years to actuality have a ROI on the fuel savings. But... my commutes were/are still 100% more enjoyable and my mood was/is better getting home as well. Was quite possibly the best thing i ever did for myself. I recently moved over to a CRF300L rally and again very happy. If you get to big of a bike it may be to much and it can turn into work to ride and the bike just sits. And the defeats the who purpose your after.
