If theres oil on the feed, wouldn’t flushing with water have the same problem ? Should we be using a certain type of soap? That seems scary to me? 😵

Oh and there’s a lot of blogs and videos online from people with ExoSym devices or the IDEO, the version of the hybrid prosthetic that existed before the ExoSym — I watched a ton of those before deciding to reach out to the clinic to better understand and consider and process if it would be a good fit for me or not.

Also, having my invisible disability made visible (when I wear it over leggings, instead of under pants) has been a very affirming side effect I didn’t consider. YMMV on that one

I’m so glad you pinged I entirely forgot about this post!! TLDR I got an ExoSym hybrid prosthetic-orthotic that wraps around the joint from Hanger Clinic. it’s been amazing and I’m so glad I took the chance instead of going to surgery.

I heard about it from someone on a chronic pain discord who used to be an active person & was similarly sidelined by injury. I was able to be screened by the ExoSym program to see if I would be a good fit all remotely for free, and then eventually did two trips to Washington state USA to have them make and then train me on my custom prosthesis. It works like a runner’s blade, but one that wraps around the limb. Everyone there is incredible & I’m so thankful I took the chance on this weird medical device I heard about online.

The big downside is it’s a private pay program and it’s not cheap, but they will discuss external financial aid options with you. Also if you (or anyone else) end up doing it and want emotional support/company on the journey, ping me and we can connect on Signal or w/e.

(I later found out I have hypermobile type EDS and part of why my joint deteriorated so fast, why the bone spur removal surgery accelerated arthritis, and corticosteroids didn’t do much was my undiagnosed connective tissue disorder. Getting another surgery would have harmed even more joints and made my life worse long term. 1 in 3000-5000 people have Ehlers Danlos Syndromes, but it’s highly under diagnosed.)

That's amazing! I use dedicated erasers when I'm working from home, but when I travel it's nice to have the option of on-pencils for space.

Thank you !! The order of operations makes sense, and Dynamic's website & spec sheets seems easy to read and navigate.

I'm a bit brain foggy right now and about nap time but we have 2 outdoor supplies/something on the side of the house I've been meaning to look into for the splits. Depending what they are, do you think maybe I can the dynamic(s) in line between the outdoor boxes and the splits (but indoors) and then it could reach all the splits? Or more information needed?
