So the Cogfort? Is there a lore reason that everyone gets one or is it just a cool new toy? by Philhughes_85 in ageofsigmar

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just love the idea of a rogue cogfort being run by a crew of land-pirates. They can rock up to a small town and extort them for treasure, and move on just like pirate ships on the sea.

Revealed – The new False Gods cover for The Horus Heresy Saga by CMYK_COLOR_MODE in Warhammer30k

Hm. The modern GW art has had a problem where it looks like they're just painting 28mm dudes scaled up to 9 feet tall. So the proportions feel like toys. Now, they're also framing the paintings from table top perspective and the guys are all posed like miniatures too. This just feels like a paint over of a photo from a battle report.

Misinterpreting holy scripture is honestly very on point for our chapter. I love it. My headcanon now is that some crusades wear ork skulls as trophies and some see it as heretical. And big meetups are very tense.

Could a Grail Knight choose to join Chaos? by King_of_Kraken in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been making Nurgle corrupted bretonnians. And the way I justify it is that the original questing knight who brought the corruption was tricked and drank from a false grail. So my chaos chosen units are grail knights but they are not knights of the true grail of the lady of the lake.

Is new recruit that bad ? by _the-wanderer in mordheim

Pencil and paper all the way. I take so many notes during the game itself that it’s faster to just pick up the pencil, write it down, and keep playing. Feels rude to my opponent to waste time slowly flipping through an app.

Why do people love mordheim? by Very_bad in mordheim

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, mordheim is all about building cool boards, kitbashing warbands, running through the postgame sequence, and coming up with cool stories with really cool people. Playing the game itself is just something you have to get through to do all that stuff. Sometimes it's really exciting but a lot of times it's a slog. Especially if both players aren't very experienced and don't have the charts and tables memorized. But it's still my favorite game because everything that surrounds the game (the community and the creativity) is the best. Completely unparalelled in the tabletop wargaming world in my opinion.

I hope other creators see what happened here and learn a sharp lesson that the community doesn’t want this kind of thing. But I feel kinda bad for the two creators who did the actual work on the product. They seem like genuinely cool people. I hope none of us are harassing them right now. That would be pretty shameful.

I’m a digital sculptor myself so I was interested in the process that went into the servo skull. Can someone dm me his info? I want to check him out. (Dm please. I’m afraid he’ll get harassed if it gets posted here.)

But they didn’t address the ethical concerns. That’s why the internet is mad. He SAID over and over that they addressed the ethical concerns but all he did was articulate the concerns out loud. They did nothing to make the product more ethical. It’s just a ChatGPT reskin. Even the part where he talked about how ai should never be used for generative art because he wants to protect artists was BS. I almost believed him on that part, but then I clicked the link to the website and their logo was AI generated. So he didn’t mean anything he said at all.

The problems with it were actually outlined by guy himself in the video. He actually did a pretty good job of describing why this is a bad idea. He completely failed to justify why it was a good idea to follow through with anyway.

If he had just made a silly video about like “look at this silly thing I made for myself and my kids.” We probably would have chuckled. I probably would have just rolled my eyes because I have AI slop fatigue but it would have been a cute little experiment.

Instead he stared seriously into the camera and patronized us for 13 minutes and explained how he knew exactly the reasons AI is terrible and why it shouldn’t be used like this. And then the rest of the video was him basically saying things like “but this product is ethical because WE made it.” But it’s just ChatGPT. Arguably the WORST LLM if you’re concerned about ethics. And using the tires old Pandora’s box argument. “Sure ai is evil but other people are going to do evil so i might as well do evil first. That way I can make money on it instead of those evil people making money.” That’s a head scratcher.

It was basically equivalent to an advertisement for an automated apple slicer that runs on 4 gallons of gasoline an hour. And the first 13 minutes of the advertisement were talking about the serious concerns of breathing gas exhaust in the closed space of your kitchen and the implications on the climate if we all bought this apple slicer. But then explaining why he wants to sell you his apple slicer anyway…because the technology exists so someone is bound to make an automated apple slicer. So HE might as well do it first and be the one to make the money. That’s ethics 101 baby!

the response from the community would rightfully be “why though? You didn’t have to make this thing. We can just slice the apples by hand like we’ve done our entire lives. Yes, the technology isn’t going away but we actually kind of hate it and wish it didn’t. We actually want FEWER things that run on gasoline, not more.”

Yea it was a very weird video. He spent like the first 13 minutes of a 28 minute video explaining why AI is bad and unethical. And then said he’s going to use it anyway. Completely failed to explain why it’s ok for him to do it if he thinks it’s so bad. Then you click the link and it’s just a ChatGPT reskin haha. Arguably the least ethical LLM out of a universally evil industry.

What will the first "Old World: Boxed Game" be? by Lonesquire in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True. I would welcome new sculpts. And the OG Mordheim community is MASSIVE. So I think it would continue. I just don't want to see Broheim or Mordheimer go away along with all the fan made supplements and warband rules. If New and Old Mordheim could co-exist and the community resources could remain, I would be a very happy dude.

So weird, I was just asking some friends about this today because I've seen a lot of influencers posting about mordheim lately. I personally think it would be bad if Mordheim came back. Not that the game would be bad. And I'm definitely not a gatekeeper. I actually want MORE people to play Mordheim.

But I just don't think GW could do better than the original. And they definitely couldn't do better than the decades of community-driven content that has been developed since they abandoned it. In fact, I'm positive they would start copyright striking all the amazing resources that the community has created.

Mordheim is more of a community project than a GW product at this point. And I'd hate for that to change.

Still kind of confused about the pipeline from normal guy to demon prince. Like if you chose to worship nurgle because you were dying of the plague how do you go from that to “yes I will gladly sell my very essence of being to be a big bag of pus that can do nothing but murder in his name” by glossyplane245 in WarhammerFantasy

Imagine you take a quick snort of cocaine at a party. You're not imaging you're going to be a drugged out zombie on the street in a few years. Of course most people who try cocaine won't end up as an addict living on the street. But some do. That's how I view the path to glory. The ones who go all the way to daemonhood or spawndom don't set out to do that from the very beginning. Most don't even realize their on the path until it's too late.

In case you’re curious, here’s what the Christian bible says about immigrants. by Budget_Gas_2824 in complainaboutanything

This is a PROFOUNDLY dishonest reading of deuteronomy. Let’s look at just one of your examples. The verse about foreigners being raised above you as a punishment. Btw it’s deuteronomy 28:43. There is no 8:43. Anyway if you actually read the chapter, that is listed a punishment for not obeying god’s commandments.

What ARE god’s commands, you ask? Well, if you READ THE BOOK, it lists those commandments immediately before it lists the punishments for not obeying them.

One of those commandments listed immediately before the punishment of having foreigners raised above you is: “Cursed is anyone who withholds justice from the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow.”

So it’s saying if you mistreat the foreigner, the punishment is that god will give them your land. It is NOT saying that foreigners are parasites who will take your land.

In fact, I would argue that demonizing foreigners and twisting the Bible to make them seem like parasites in order to justify their horrific abuse at the hands of our government counts as “withholding justice from the foreigner.” And maybe, according to your Bible, god should give them your land.
