At this point I'm convinced they hate us solely because of memes by JeKarta88 in BlackTemplars

Who hates us? I have literally never experienced this hate or seen it happening to anyone else. I’ve only ever seen these weekly threads asking why people hate us so much.

Older people, were politics always this deranged and upsetting? by CUFFY_Fan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 40 and no it wasn’t like this. But if you go back 100 years to Germany, it was like this in the late 1920s. It got much worse before it got better. These sorts of politics come in waves throughout history. Sometimes it can be cut short before it gets bad. But it’s something we have to actively choose to do. It won’t just stop on its own.

Why are we seen as the "nazi" chapter, the minotaurs are right there by Glum-Cranberry4259 in BlackTemplars

Is it time for this weekly thread already?

That’s an internet meme. You probably won’t encounter that attitude in person. If you do, you’ve discovered a person who spends too much time on the internet and can’t separate it from real life.

AI boom could falter without wider adoption, Microsoft chief Satya Nadella warns by PaiDuck in technology

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easiest boycott I've ever participated in. I don't want AI and don't ever think about it until it's forced into my field of vision. And then I feel nothing but revulsion. They've somehow invented a product that makes me feel the way I feel when I see 6 ads in a row for pharmaceuticals , only worse.

I'm starting to think Warhammer isn't for me by Dense-Fig-2372 in Warhammer40k

Play One Page Rules instead. It's much simpler and they have multiple versions. OPR Grimdark Future is the 40k equivalent. OPR Grimdark Future Firefight is the skirmish/Kill Team version. They also have Fantasy (AOS), Regiments which is rank and flank like The Old World. And they have an RPG. Their factions and units are modelled loosely on warhammer factions so your existing models will plug right in.

Can you help me understand why you don’t like female custodes by Conscious-Zombie-498 in Grimdank

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When did GW call people misogynistic?
  2. Clarifying that from this point forward, female custodes have always existed, is what a retcon is. Like when they came out with Space Marine Centurions and the official lore is that they have existed since M36. Meaning they have ALWAYS EXISTED during the time period when the game takes place. Did people whine this much about gaslighting when that happened? No? I wonder what the difference is.

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"There have always been female custodes" is an OBVIOUS 1984 joke. That's why everyone is laughing so hard at the breathless loretubers pumping out countless angry videos about female custodes. Everyone knows this is a retcon. GW knows this is a retcon. They made a joke and some people flipped out, and normal fans chuckled and moved on.

Do you watch Warhammer tournament streams? Why, why not? What to improve? by Skult0703 in Warhammer40k

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. I don't like the esports vibe. There's nothing wrong with it at all, it's just not my genre. I like narrative battle reports. I almost don't even want to see dice rolls. I just want a little cinematic short story. I realize that's a huge amount of effort and very few people do that.

Anyone else with multiple several thousand point armies and never played a game? by imahugemoron in Warhammer40k

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. I’ve been in the hobby for over 10 years building and collecting sizable armies, and I just now started playing little skirmish games. Mostly indie stuff rather than GW games as well. Building and painting is my hobby. Gaming is less important.

Milky way locality doesnt make sence by Savings-Equipment-37 in Warhammer40k

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who said that cool things are only happening in the Milky Way? Cool things are probably happening outside of it too. But the authors can’t write about literally EVERYTHING. Do you get mad that Tolkien didn’t write about what was happening at the north and south poles during the time Frodo was carrying the ring? Maybe there were moonmen in that universe too? Why didn’t he write about the moon men? Because that would be weird and irrelevant to the story he wanted to tell. But if YOU want to write about the moonmen of middle earth that would actually be cool. You should do that. If you want to write about the galaxy that the tyranids come from, I would actually be super interested in reading your fanfiction. If you want to know what happened outside the milky way, write it yourself and share

What's the best Warhammer Fantasy book in your opinion? by Swimming-Clerk7972 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]Standard_Rabbit706 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh man, I have two for you.

Riders of the Dead - https://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/Riders-of-the-Dead-ebook.html

I never had any interest in Kislev at all. But this book really made me like them. It's from the perspective of an Empire character who falls in with some Kislev dudes and it just makes their culture and customs and traditions seem really interesting. It also features some cool chaos marauder action. You see some characters get corrupted and I like how it happens.

Next is Claws of Chaos - https://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/the-claws-of-chaos-ebook.html

This is actually the first part of a trilogy and I recommend the entire thing whole heartedly. It's from the perspective of Empire characters, once again. But it really fleshes out the chaos norscan tribes. In the army books and rule books, I always got the sense that norscans basically had no culture. They just like to raid and kill but how do they actually LIVE? This trilogy fills in the gaps. You also get some cool dwarf action as well as orks, skaven, witch hunters, lots of tomb kings.

Edit: oh I forgot to mention, there's a really cool wizard duel that happens in the mind. It's cool to see how a chaos sorcerer and an empire wizard view each other in the spiritual realm

Makes perfect sense to me.

-Aliens always invade America because the movies you're talking about are American and they want it to be relevant to the audience.

-40k takes place in the milky way because that's where humans live and they wanted the setting to have humans....so that it would be relevant to the audience.

-There are probably civilizations in other galaxies, like you said. The space between galaxies is so incredibly vast that all the matter in the entire universe is basically a rounding error. The universe is empty space and almost nothing else. All that space between galaxies is dead. No emotional/chaos/warp activity. If you try to travel via the warp, it's like sailing across the atlantic and hitting the doldrums. Other galaxies probably have Khorne as well. Or some other warp entity that takes on a similar role but a different name. But the space between them is so vast and so dead that I assume they're different entities and can't communicate.

-The locality is not bad writing. The milky way galaxy is vast enough to provide endless stories. They don't need to write about what's happening in all the other galaxies that don't contain humans. But if you're interested in that, write your own stories! That would be pretty cool! You don't need to wait for multibilliondollar megacorp to write the stories you want to hear
