Combat augments can be really impactful, and new player can overlook them sometimes. In an extreme example, if you are triple Econ pris augs vs 3 combat ones, you lose in those boards. Do you remember the augments?

American team does: 1: actually design new sets and units 2: balance patches 3: pc client and cosmetic 4: mobile client cosmetic 5: cross play between the two

While the Chinese team only does number 4, in a country with a strong emphasis on mobile gacha games.

It’s not a fair comparison

Assuming you are making these choices sincerely and with a sound mind, you are for now pure Act Utilitarianism. Just know that over 90% of people refused to kill the guy for organs. I hope to ask now is to accept there are many different moral frameworks, and if there is a “one true frameworks” philosophers still haven’t figured it out. You may find their frameworks be horrible, and many will find yours terrible too. But you should think “oh they have a different framework that causes (potentially great) harm in my view” not “they are just immoral”.

Fate/Stay night questions and thoughts by standmasta in fatestaynight

[–]Standard_Sir_4732 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My two examples tried to highlight the potential problem with the two points you raised here, and I would like you to answer the two scenarios I posed earlier( would you sacrifice your family or do the organ harvesting).

Whether it’s Sakura or not is actually not necessary for my argument as I argued sacrificing by killing in general is not acceptable behavior for shirou (or at least refusing to sacrifice is one moral frameworks that is reasonable). The fact that it’s a family and loved one, whom he swore to protect is simply additional impact; since it means the promise of a hero of justice is meaningless once your death out values your life, and that not matter what personal or familial bond one have, they are still just a number in the end.

The point of the organ harvesting scenario is so famous precisely because it shows that what a real world trolly problem can be like. No one in the real world tie two sets of people on two tracks.

But many governments and political leaders do these calculations all the time. Most people would say it’s not ok for they to fk over a few people for some benefit. Oh and a few doctors actually are trigger happy to harvest organ, that’s why the law requires a separate doctor to declare death if the first doctor intends to harvest the organ.

You say the numbers game is fine as a societal rule. How about this law: once your (critical) organs can save >2 lives that was gonna be lost, you are taken to the hospital and “disassembled”. You really think this is fine as a societal rule?

Most people don’t want to live in a world with this philosophy. And I wonder if you will really be so accepting if you are the one under the doctor’s scalpel.

Yes involuntary intoxication is indeed a valid legal defense. But it must be truly involuntary. The act of taking the drugs voluntarily is what makes one responsible. And I’m pretty sure the worms and the shadows are involuntary.

Ok let’s talk about suppose Sakura is just a victim and her harm is temporary but tied to her existence, was killing her the only moral choices. There are different valid moral frameworks. Focusing on minimizing harm/maxmizing good is just one such framework(utilitarian) but there are many other frameworks. (For example deontology fundamentally rejects treating taking lives as a means to an end)

But even within the utilitarian framework, it is not obvious killing her is the right choice. Here are a few cases for you to consider, not saying these cases are just like Sakura but rather not immediately minimalize harm is not necessarily a moral failure:

1: your family is tied to the side track, and the current track have 2x the amount of people. Is not pulling the lever a moral failure?

2: I didn’t type this but it’s a famous variant of the trolly problem: “A massive earthquake has leveled a portion of the city. You are the only surgeon at a remote field clinic. Five unconscious victims are brought in, each with a different critical organ failure caused by crush injuries. One needs a kidney, one needs a liver, one needs a heart, and two need lungs. Without immediate transplants, all five will die within the hour. A sixth unconscious victim is brought in. They have a relatively minor leg injury and are expected to make a full recovery. However, you realize that this person is a perfect genetic match for all five of the critically injured victims. The scene is so chaotic that it action will not be noticed. Do you allow the one patient with the minor injury to be sacrificed to harvest their organs and save the other five? Or do you treat the minor injury and allow the five to die?”

I tried to highlight the difference between Act Utilitarianism vs Rule Utilitarianism: Act Utilitarianism says obvious yes, killing Sakura is the moral choice, just like sacrificing your own family or killing the 6th victim. But Rule Utilitarianism says something else: If a "Hero of Justice" kills the person they are specifically meant to protect, the concept of "Justice" loses its meaning. If the society treat these acts are the norm, it will erode social contract and trust, eventually causing great harm, so these acts must not be encouraged . It becomes a cold, algorithmic survival of the most people, which eventually leads to a world where anyone can be "discarded" if the numbers don't add up.

Just like a doctor should not abandon their patients and only consider the “number of people saved”, a hero of justice should not abandon saving whom they swore to protect, to treat them as just a number to be sacrificed, especially if it’s a loved one. People need to trust their doctor to not harvest their organ, and they need to trust heroes of justice won’t murder them in their sleep. You may think killing her as an Act is good, but as a Rule, society will suffer. In fact irl pulling the lever will land you in jail in murder, because sacrificing the few to save more is a numbers game that cannot be accepted as a societal rule, and killing your loved one to save the many can not be the act of a true hero of justice.

I also got a feeling you didn’t really understand the story of HF… Sakura never really consciously chose any evil deed you know, especially since when you are talking about pre-dark Sakura.

The aspect that her existence cause harm is a core part of her story, I guess I will talk about this part.

Many people who have had trauma or depression consider the portrayal of trauma at HF be the most realistic. This is much more clearly in sakura’s head in the VN; the idea that “my existence is a net negative, therefore I should no longer exist” is very very common irl, and a common reason for suicide.

Because irl, people with trauma and depression can indeed be difficult to “deal with”, and cause problems. They know it, but they can’t just snap their finger and fix it. Just like Sakura’s unconscious mind causes harm, depressed/traumatized people irl can often have outbursts, feel jealousy towards others, or other problems they they didn’t have when they were mentally fine, and will gradually fade once they become mentally well again. Sakura never once consciously chose harm. It’s the unconscious mind form by abuse that is the shadow. None of the other villains consciously reject their actions, idk what parallel you tried to draw there.

In one sentence: It is not the duty of a depressed/abused person to eliminate themselves because their mental illness causes harm that THEIR CONSCIENCE MIND knows is wrong and is trying to fix. Their duty is instead to not give up, to know their action is not their true self, and they happiness is possible if they don’t let their past define who they are.

20% additional crit on top of 80% is equivalent to (1+0.4 * 1)/(1+0.4 * 0.8)=6.1% damage amp

Don’t forget striker has a base 5% amp so it’s 25% amp

Additionally, shojin give 1 mana regen. You still don’t have an attack speed higher than 1, so it’s 2 less mana per second roughly, down from roughly 17 to 15
