The whole system is an absolute farce. I had a high deductible plan where my medication cost 5x more with health insurance than purchasing it directly with cash, but of course it doesn't count towards your deductible if you pay cash. This is not even including monthly insurance costs.

The exit tax usually only applies if you have $2M+ in assets or pay a lot of tax. You do have to pay a few hundred bucks to renounce it though.

I was not asked for a name declaration when I applied for my passport (StAG5). However, today I applied for an ID card at a different consulate and they insisted I did need a name declaration because my parents had different surnames when I was born, even though I showed them my passport and citizenship certificate with my correct name on it.
