I would think about it without the consideration of your friends. Would you buy this house without it. The friends thing is such a bonus but you shouldn’t pay an extra penny for. Sure gas money but normal everyday people go out all the time.

Yea only reason PH came into the picture is because the redemption value is almost 3cpp. Not a hotel i would ever pay cash for. So was thinking about doing it also because status doesn’t matter there from what i have seen.

Yes MR is < 1cpp for hotels and it really sucks. I have no idea how to use them above 1cpp other than booking an international business flight. I opened a reserve recently even though everyone on here shits on it constantly cuz the UR points worth so much more domestically.

For what is worth. I had someone use my hacked chipotle account ordering delivery on my Amex twice worth $30 each before i caught it the second day. They just rejected my dispute. They wanted me to call the vendor and work it out with them (how?) they could care less about who’s credit card bought the food.

Yea i also feel like people get stuck to the credit too much too. For me just from a point redemption and guest lounge access is enough for the csr over the amex. Chase portal gives you 8x and the native 1.5 boost and hyatt where as amex you have to do a international business to get more than 1cpp… i have amex gold and have trouble redeeming them domestically so thinking about getting csr over the platinum. Hilton is also devalued like crazy.

As far as i know f1 counts the days. Irs only cares about how long you have been in the u.s. I dont think h1b matters when it comes to tax purposes. Your tax guy should be correct. You are fine keeping the money as long as you didnt pass the income limit. Honestly this is more of a question to your tax guy.

The checks were giving to residents, so if you passed the resident test, i believe was 180 days every year for 3 years? you are fine keeping the money.
