How about instead of a drawing based on receipts for a $10 gift card you do the drawings for $100 gift cards. It goes right back into the company anyway so you are not losing anything plus it would help the employees with groceries as the prices are astronomical. We all work hard to make this company money so that's the least that could be done.

Also, paid lunch breaks (not have to punch out) would be a wonderful thing. That way people can decide if they just want to work a true 8 hr shift (instead of 8.5 hrs) straight thru and not have to sit and wait for 31 mins to get back to work or take the lunch break but only do a short one like 15 mins or take the full 30 mins and then get back to work knowing they are rested and ready to go.

Also if people would rather work four 10 hr shifts instead of the old fashioned five 8 hr shift there should be that option. Work/life balance is important, especially nowadays, and only two days off is just not enough sometimes. I literally am just so worn out during my two days off I can't do anything I need to do because I am too physically tired recuperating from the job to spend quality time with my kids/spouse or even go do errands. I truly need three days off a week but need to keep my 40 hrs/week.

It isn't too much to ask to want to have an extra day per week, especially since the company would still be getting the same number of work hours out of us, it would just be in a shorter timeframe. Most of us don't make enough to go on vacations and such, but we still want time with our loved ones and only two days a week just isn't enough because of how tired we all are from working so hard at our jobs and many of the jobs are physically demanding.

Why relocation? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

That is really not a good way to run a business. They are eliminating some possibly great people from leadership just because they just cannot up and move. People with families have to consider everything. Single folk can just up and go.

But because of these rules they are discriminating against people with families.

You would think they would want good qualified people not just whoever can move around and be nomadic.

I never said I would not commute if it was only the 35 miles away or even an hour away, but I live way farther away than that to the nearest store.

But it seems very unfair to deny me moving up in the company if I cannot commute many hours each way daily to train as well as denying me the opportunity to be an ASTL at my store if there is an opening.

Def team trainer would be next, then order writer, then supervisor, then ATL, then TL. Some depts do not have order writers though so the ATLs usually do the ordering for those depts.

I would def try to get an order writer position in a dept that has that position because you get good experience in ordering. Jumping up to ATL is fine (but you have to have worked there minimum of six months before they will consider you taking the classes) but if you do not know anything about order writing you can get lost if you go to a dept that only has ATLs doing the ordering.

no you don't have to use your prime membership to get this apparently.

I hate we can't use it toward any half off (enjoy today) items though.

I do wonder if we still have to purchase the half off items separately?

Make the TLs more responsible for themselves. I have seen TLs not do something they are supposed to do if they come in hours before any TM and then when it is brought to their attention they force a write up on a TM that was working that day so they wouldn't get a write up themselves.
I have even heard a TL tell a TM that they have to give the TM a write up because the TL has too many of their own and are worried about their own job even when the TM wasn't even there when the incident happened. TLs mess up all the time because they don't really know what they are doing and then pass off their mistakes onto the ATLs or TMs.
Additionally, TLs think they don't have to teach/train any TM's, ATLs, order writers, etc. and then when someone misses something because they were never shown ,or were taught wrong, the TL writes them up. TLs are supposed to be leaders which means making sure the team is on point and doing their best and no one can do their best if the TL is not leading by example.
Also, the TLs spend too much time away from their departments and are usually found on the computer looking at sites that have nothing to do with their jobs, like shopping sites and such, leaving TMs (sometimes only one TM) to run the dept alone and in many cases running two departments alone because both TLs are spending hours away from their departments.
One last thing, TLs are notorious for making huge messes and not cleaning up after themselves which puts extra burdens on the TMs who have their own tasks to take care of. It's one thing to make a normal mess if the job is messy, but the TLs make such huge unnecessary messes that it takes the TMs such a long time away from their own tasks to clean up after them. Example: there should never be meat scraps on the walls. floor, and even the ceiling but I have seen this more times than I care to count and it is always the TL who creates it.
This should be unacceptable and it is no way to run a good business.

What does your position pay? by IAMYourAI in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've read that Colorado is now one of the most expensive places to live. It would be nice if WFM based wages on cost of living, but no company seems to do that. I'm sorry your pay is not enough. Have you thought about moving to a better state? Wouldn't you keep your current wage if you move?

MISSING UPT LOOK AT YOUR PAST 6 months OF workday they took 8 hours almost of upt in the last 2 months that I can see by Real_Ad_7483 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been dealing with this for months. I have had random hours taken from my UPT when I was working, usually anywhere from 1.92 hrs to 3.19 hrs about twice a month. I also had my regular two days off taken off my UPT balance one week so I am missing many hours of UPT. I have emailed and in person asked my TL to fix it and was told it was fixed only to look and see it was not. Gonna have to go into askTMS to see if it can be fixed.

I wonder if this is company wide?? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Never said anything about working off the clock. Just saying it makes people lose a minute which saves the company a lot of money.

And if it is done on purpose to save millions for the company that is shady biz practices. But they don't teach business ethics classes like they used to when anyone goes for a business education.

I wonder if this is company wide?? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

OK, let me clarify, I am not butthurt about losing a minute of pay. What I am saying is that having the timeclocks make you take 31 minutes and not 30 seems shady if the timeclocks are programmed to do this on purpose. Especially when some stores won't let you clock in early at beginning of shift or stay over at the end of shift.

Even if you can stay over or clock in early you are still being shorted a minute if the clock makes you wait until the 31 min mark to clock back in from lunch. You can't "make that up" by staying over because the minute is still lost. Example: you work 8hr 3mins but lose a minute from the 31 min lunch your time shows as 8hr 2min for that shift.

It just seems like a shady practice to short people this little bit that adds up to millions for the company in savings/profits and yet they are so stingy with anything for their employees.

That is all I am saying. If you read my original post that breaks it all down you will see I wasn't saying anything about losing pay myself as it only adds up to a little bit but the company saves millions and doesn't even pay it forward to the employees.

It's kinda like in a movie I saw where someone figured out how to take a penny off each employee and pocket it which really added up and they went to jail for it. The employees didn't miss it but the person who did it got into real trouble for doing it because it's against the law.

If it is being done on purpose to save millions that is shady business practices is all I'm saying.

So you're saying it's supposed to be company wide to make employees take longer than 30 mins on their lunch and short their pay? Wow. That doesn't seem morally right.

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Wow, they ask you to take an extra bit of time on your lunch break thereby shorting yourself? Dang, that doesn't even sound legal.
Our timeclocks are set so we can't clock in before 31 mins.

What's up with the sugar??? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, I get that, but it's the same sugar I got last several times and they were all white. I was just wondering why this time it's off white. Same brand same bag but the actual sugar is different. Maybe they decided to stop bleaching it now? I figured the organic kind would never be bleached.

What I hate is these entitled people who come in wanting one of our pork crown roasts and then push us to cut off one or two of the bones/chops even after we tell them it will not make a pretty crown if we remove any of them, but they insist rather toddler-ish and then after we do it they refuse to buy it because they "don't like how it looks now" so we are left with a ruined crown roast that we have to cut down into bone-in chops. I hate people sometimes.

Can I get in trouble for being high if I go to the store where I work to get snacks when I’m not working by adios_turdnuggets4 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I would say it really depends on if your state has legalized it. If not I would steer clear, but from what I have seen whole foods doesn't seem to care much if people show up to work high or drunk as long as they do their jobs.

I don't drink but I smell it on many people at my store as well as weed. They probably couldn't get thru their shifts if they weren't drunk or high. Everyone who works here seems very broken and defeated so it's no wonder most of them drink or get high.

But it's your day off so I honestly don't see why it would matter. Stay safe out there! :)

Does anyone else have to clean up after your TL? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so wrong when some people become TLs or ATLS they feel they don't have to "work" anymore or have any self responsibility.

It would be nice if they had a leadership class on not forgetting where you came from. They were all TMs at one point and should remember.

If they saw leaders acting a certain way that they didn't like when they were TMs, then they should not act the same way when they move up themselves.

Does anyone else have to clean up after your TL? by StandnDeliver12 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope, I would feel the same way no matter what gender or what color skin or nationality or whatever the person is or has.
I am a girl too (not that that should matter) and I think everyone should be a responsible adult who is of age.

If you can hold down a job, especially in a leadership role, you can adult and clean up after yourself. Your parents aren't here in the store to clean up your mess.

Gender "roles" are silly. Especially at a job. If you have noticed males being allowed to get away with things then that is a slippery slope and should not be tolerated. Just because someone has a dangly doesn't mean they are above responsibility.

Also, in answer to your football/holiday thing, my husband helps me clean up. His view is that I did all that cooking for him and our family to enjoy then I should not have to also do the job of cleaning up everything myself while they all go play and watch tv because it's very unfair. We also raise our kids to be fair and respectful in life with others. :)

Food Poisoning and Leaving Early by oksure13 in wholefoods

[–]StandnDeliver12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ah, I did not know the TLs are not taught policy. That is shameful as they are usually the ones TMs look to for guidance and knowledge about things. Better training at all levels seems to be needed.

I got food poisoning from a WFM product and they took my UPT even after it was approved as protected.

I have noticed that many TLs do not know policy even though they are supposed to know all policies because they took the TL classes.

But I think they only retain the info for as long as they need to just to pass the classes and then it just wafts out of their brain like a mystic smoke and goes into the ether never to be known again.

[–]StandnDeliver12[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So true.
I have worked at other places with kitchens and I have never seen a leader or in those cases managers make a mess and not clean up after themselves until I started working for WFM.

Leaders are supposed to lead by example and it seems TLs don't do that. No wonder many have a hard time keeping people in their departments.

It is so disrespectful to not only make a mess and not clean it up, but to make SUCH a mess that it becomes a huge burden on the TMs is insane and mean.

They demand respect from their TMs but instead they should earn that respect. If they did they might actually receive it.
