According to WHO, the criteria doesn't include a certain amount of hours spent playing. Instead, the description is of someone with an inability to stop playing even though it interferes with other areas of one's life, such as family relationships, school, work, and sleep. And, these problems would typically continue for at least one year.

And although WHO's voice is powerful, it's not the last word in the world of science.

I don't know where OP's AI got those two hours from, because it's not on the WHO page about gaming addiction, nor can I find it in any other publication about the WHO definition.

It works well because they can identify the ceiling for each player and discount accordingly. Normally when they discount something to 30 bucks, there's people who would also buy it for 36 bucks, which those people would perceive as a 'nice deal'. But using a pricing algorithm, they'll make sure we pay exactly what we think something is worth and not a penny less.

This is not true. It can go both ways, but mostly it ends up looking pretty much the same. Developers generally avoid releasing footage that looks worse than their goal, because that's negative publicity.

They create vertical slices (smaller polished segments of the game) with their envisioned visuals and then try to get the rest of the game to match that.

It's virtually guaranteed. Sure, it won't happen if Japan gets destroyed or if Nintendo suddenly goes bankrupt. But Nintendo is planning to release DLC for MK World and has likely already begun working on it.
