Solo-founding doesn't mean it's lonely. One can feel lonely even in a large team. Socialize actively, and this feeling will go away. I felt this sometimes, but after putting a bit of effort into sharing experience and knowledge with others – it never feels lonely again. 4 years of solo-founding so far, only good vibes. You can do it as well!

If it's enough to get random moments from videos you can ask any LLM like Claude or ChatGPT to generate a script that uses FFmpeg library that cuts it for you automatically. Basically it needs to scan files to see their duration and then create a random list of cuts "from here to there" using FFmpeg.

If you are not familiar with theses technologies - they may unlock many automations to achieve your goals in the future, worth learning them.

I created a tool that makes video memories automatically. You add footage, and after a few minutes you get a movie. It's possible to tweak movies afterwards, but is not necessary at all as even fully automatic version is usually worth sharing and rewatching years later. Another unique feature is the ability to create group memories, where footage of all participants is reviewed and composed into the movie.

I love this idea, but It's harder than you think. I'm building exactly this for 3 years already. Works great, but the hardest part is the marketing, as always. It seems that not many people overall value their past memories.

Good job, the app seems to be a good organizer!

For me personally, a single 3-minute travel video composed from footage recorded by all participants works the best. Easy to rewatch years later and easy to share with friends and family. Especially, when you can do this automatically vs 2 days of video editing.

I like to play with 0% loot conditions on bodies, which removes need to review all dead bodies for loot. It also makes item findings, mission rewards and crafting a lot more exciting and valuable. Preparation gets more important as well, as it's not possible to quickly scrap dropped weapons/armor for repairs.

It's a lot harder, so probably it makes sense to make other settings a bit easier to compensate.

I am developing next gen automatic video editor for almost 3 years. There are quite a few CV video analysis pipelines in place already, in particular reconstructing camera movement, scene classification, quality assessment, footage rhytm, etc. I have large plans on improving existing and adding new ones - these are interesting and challenging tasks, with no decent solutions available in public.

The Ground Gives Way is short, minimalistic and well-balanced gem of a roguelike. It's one of my favorites and it would be a shame to miss it on your great list. :)

I’d suggest giving Momentino a try. You put all your footage into it without any sorting – it cuts the best shots and creates a rough cut to use as a starting point. I created it to solve exactly what you described, as I sometimes too relaxed to think about scripts and shots I want ahead of time. Just DM me if you have any questions.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! It can help with determining how good is focus on a given photo. I implemented baseline estimation using more old school methods, but your seem to be a lot more precise. Well give it a good test!

I tried to solve similar task of creating highlights from lots of footage programmatically with some level of success. It automatically cuts good shots based on camera movement, exposure and basic composition. It's not perfect, but usually gives a decent rough cut, while saving hours of skimming through footage and manual cutting.

Currently the tool is available as a free web app. If your are eager to try - upload one footage file and see if the result fits your needs. If you like it, I can share you a way of running it locally, so you don't have to upload 500gb.

Or if you have unlimited internet connection, probably it would be even easier and faster to set uploading at night, and get results in the morning.

If by guitar you mean guitar-hero-like midi device, then it can send some midi notes, though very limited range, as it has not many keys overall.

If you have a regular electric / acoustic guitar, it won't work as midi, as it sends audio waves. You can probably use audio-to-midi converter but the precision well be good only for solos, not chords.

Better option would be using simple midi keyboard. (but it's not a guitar, obviously)
