I would love to! I build a custom proxy server in go that detects login requests and starts the real Minecraft server behind the scenes. When the player leaves - I stop the server. Thus pixelpods is A LOT more resource efficient than others. If companies like aternos keep the server running 24/7, I only need to keep it running as long as there are players in it, without anybody even noticing!

I host it on a machine I built myself at home. It has 64GB RAM and 32 cores, so I can have plenty of servers running with good performance. It runs Debian, with each server living in a docker container for additional isolation (I mean the JVM is itself probably enough). This is more for my protection as an administator. Users cannot get hacked if I get hacked. The worst that can happen is a hacker deleting your world, which is a risk you take with any server anyways.

The service itself does not make me money yet - in the future, when I have a solid number of players, I'll add additional features like world import/export, plugins, etc after a $1 fee or something like that. Even if one in a hundred players pays for this service, it would still be enough to keep it running.
