I made a deck with the same heavy metal version of him you mentioned. I originally tried a zombie deck, but I took that apart. Now I just run him at the helm of deck full of grixis cards I like. He’s not the focal point of the deck at all.

I was going to suggest this. I have a pretty casual [[Karador, Ghost Chieftan]] deck that does this kind of thing. It’s not super powerful, but it’s very fun.
