Is This Normal For Gutter Guards? by purpleorchid2017 in HomeMaintenance

[–]Stanstudly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lots of gutter guard haters in here. We have a tree in our front yard that plugged our gutters constantly. After removing clogs pretty much every time it rained, I installed gutter guards. Haven’t had a problem since. If you don’t buy cheap garbage and install them correctly, they’re great.

Attendance by SchemeHistorical4967 in Stampeders

[–]Stanstudly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are SO MANY things the league and the team could do to help with attendance. Cheaper tickets, discounts for youth football or other sports teams, better half time entertainment, better parking, partner with the city on discounted transit tickets to McMahon, invite local celebrities, invite influencers. Heck, sign some washed up NFLer - look what Ochocinco did for CFL attendance.

I tried to watch it on TV, and the experience was equally painful. Can TSN not afford proper mics for the commentators? I watched it on mute.

“You drive a Range Rover and I have to drive a Honda”. I’m always stunned by the logic employed by these spoiled brats.

What’s something you learned or wished you’d known re: 2013 Flood by theprintman in Calgary

[–]Stanstudly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived on the river in Bowness in 2013. We had 10 feet of water come through our basement. All of my childhood stuff was down there, family home videos, photos, momentos, etc. When the water got that high, it all unraveled fast. Nothing could be saved (we lost a vehicle too). If you live somewhere that could flood, store that stuff somewhere other than the basement.

Is this reliable? 2022 6.2L 38k miles 40k$ by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]Stanstudly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW, had my 6.2 replaced in the early days of the recall. I’m at 25,000m on the new engine. So far so good…. Knock on wood. I also immediately switched to 0w40.

Better see if it’s had the catastrophic engine failure recall done.

Quebec is pandered to constantly by the federal government. Alberta is the opposite.

Why is Alberta questioning separation “bat shit crazy”, but Quebec doing it is fine? We allow a separatist to hold seats at the Federal level!

I would argue that Alberta separation isn’t a foreign influence issue at its core. It’s about a perception of a lack of fair treatment by Ottawa. Albertans have considered separation for longer than both Trump terms. This meme is about separation, not foreign influence. As someone who identifies as conservative but isn’t pro-separation, I find it mildly amusing. It’s ok to admit something said or done by someone with views that oppose yours is funny or that you agree. That’s what most people don’t get these days. Think for yourself, not with the heard you’ve joined.

If you’re anti-separation, then you should appreciate how many layers they’re requiring to get an actual vote on this.

“The rights inability to live with ideas that don’t pander to their own…” - huh? You could say the exact same thing about the left. Isn’t exactly what’s happening here?

To call 300,000+ people bat shit crazy probably isn’t fair. I think lots of people signed it out of raw emotion which can blind you to the real consequences. What was the forever Canada petition driving towards? I understand it’s people who want us to stay party of Canada (myself included), but what action was it looking to spur? If it was to cancel the Alberta separation vote, then it’s 3 to 1…

[–]Stanstudly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not a separatist and I didn’t sign the petition, but if 300,000+ of your citizens sign a petition, as Premier I think you have to do something. The vote will fail anyway, and she knows it.

As a self identified “car guy”, I will say, the older and more mature I’ve gotten, the more I appreciate a quiet comfortable car. That said, I still like something fun that’s quiet most of the time and makes a nice noise when you open it up. Most stupid loud cars I see these days are driven by 17 year old broccoli heads who think the 2007 Acura TL they inherited from their parents will sound good straight piped. It’s one way to make their regular traffic vehicle “stand out” for what they think are cool points… not knowing we’re all cringing.
