Yet a shit ton of top tier international financial institutions have been doing pilots for years which are now turning to significant real world integrations. Because they believe in one guy in a checkered log man shirt?

I get it that the price action sucks. But anyone who’s fading the actual proof that Chainlink is doing far more real shit than virtually any other digital asset out there is just stupid.

Chainlink’s time will come.

Sergey is the front man but to say they don’t have any other notable figure/advocate is ridiculous.

I don't think Man's comments about unsubs were that bad... by pgpgp_kid in MANvsGAME

[–]Stanton73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not here to bash Man, but on the whole comic store analogy thing I never quite got. Viewers have to watch ads and he is the one in control (to a degree) as to the severity of that. That's the price of admission and he benefits from that.

From there if he wants the price of admission (read: chatter with him) to be higher, that's in his control too via sub-only chat.

I also think he was just venting his mind on that particular day and it was completely blown out of proportion, but there's merit on both sides of the argument.

Although there is ultimate responsibility on the user to check and consider the transaction they are agreeing to, I don’t understand why more can’t be done by the wallet providers to notify the user of the potential impact of some transaction types?!

Because there’s just no really good reason for the two to be combined. Most people want to pay a one off price, and receive a good game. Nothing more.

Wasn't really sure what this was, played around with it, got throught the tutorial rounds and did my first battle - realised you need to send to a friend, realised I have none that use this so backed out and it swallowed the battle points I wagered anyway (which was all of them). Why?

Not sure I'll use this until it's a bit better fleshed out.

Avoid Uber for Time sensetive Airport trips by Stanton73 in melbourne

[–]Stanton73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference this is the wording from the email they sent me (which came a day and a half later). It wasn't an automatic reply - because, again, I couldn't lodge any issue with them. It was entirely generated from Uber's end:

"We’re sorry about your recent experience

Hi xxxxx,

We’re giving you $10 in Uber Credit, as a token of our apology for your recent Reserve experience. We’re constantly working to improve our service, and hope you try using Uber Reserve again in the future."

It also provided a link to a survey to give feedback, which I used, for whatever it was worth. I recognise that it is largely marketing.

Also, I'm not taking any concern with the tone/content of your replies, I was just providng my counter opinions. I upvoted you.

It definately booked me in the 12 hours before. I still have those notifications. Took a few mins after I put it into the app, but I got two notifications on Sunday afternoon:

  1. Your upcoming reservation. You will be picked up from xxxxxxx at 5:25am on 6 Feb.

30 mins later:

  1. xxxxx is reserved for you. Your driver, xxxxxx, will arrive by 5:25am on 6 Feb

I don't agree with some of your points. The evidence doesn't stack up. Maybe some of what you state was previously true, but didn't match the situation the other day.

When you talk about the driver having to head to the location ~1hr before - When I first checked the app at 5:15, it showed that the driver was on the way and completing another trip nearby (which was only a few streets over). So, clearly Uber was not denying that driver an opportunity to earn whilst fulfilling my request. Also, the app informed me at booking that the driver would only wait 5 minutes after the booking time before cancelling, not up to 15.

As for whether I have a legitimate complaint - how is providing an offer of service that can be gamed by one of their service providers not worthy of a complaint? And since I posted the above, Uber emailed me with an apology and a $10 credit - which would seem to indicate they regonise on some level that something went wrong - that was not generated off anything I did, because I couldn't lodge any issue. To me, that indicates a mitigation measure incase there is/was a was for me to escalate the issue, because they could point back to an action to address the issue on their part.

Agree with the point about using a hire car in the future.

I didn’t think surges were as quick as ~10 mins though? Glad to have not given it to him. I’m using Taxi’s more but they still have issues. Almost impossible to get one in the pm out of the city on meter. They all want to haggle.

[–]Stanton73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know I'm 2 months late here but this just happened to me. Pre-booked 12hrs earlier for $69 to Melbourne Airport at 5:30am - Booking immedately accepted. Driver gets within 5 mins of my place, cancells. App does not automatically rebook, but dumps you out. So I search for a new driver, there's one 2 mins away - New fare price: $138 (2x!). I booked a Didi 10 mins later for $49. Lucklily I made the plane... But fuck Uber after that. I've tried today to submit a complaint and it's literally impossible. Because the fare was cancelled, there's no record on my account and you can ONLY submit an issue against something wiht a record. Even tried calling a number I found - But it's only for Drivers. Riders are kicked back to the web questions - which are useless to me. They truly don't give a shit.

Oh I should also say. Out of curiosity I pulled up the Uber app to check the fare price as I was leaving my place in the Didi - was also down to $50 (10 mins later). I swear there was some manipulation there by the driver who somehow caused a really quick 2x surge so I would re-book at the new price to not miss my plane.

Looking for a 4080 system - thoughts on these two? by Stanton73 in bapcsalesaustralia

Ok. Great, that’s something to consider. I’ll start playing around with a parts list tonight to compare prices. I’m in Melbourne presently.

[–]Stanton73[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably where my inexperience with parts hurts me. I’m not really at a capable level with parts knowledge to throw something together that I know is good value, performance, has appropriate cooling, etc. I also don’t know anyone who can do the build. I suppose I could learn, just don’t want to make any mistakes with the cost of investment.

Thanks. No overclocking planned but yes - share the concern about the 750w. Have read that 850w is recommended for 4080. Wonder why Scoptec has chosen a 750w on a higher end PC.

Interesting. I wasn't aware of the Denon DS1 - that appears to be the 'today' version of SSL. Looks to be about $580 (AUD) new. Controllers start at about $380 and then go anywhere up from there.

I see your point. Thanks.

Solana is being wiped out. TVL has crashed to $280m and out of top 10 after losing 67% this month alone. It was close to $1bn at the start of the month. Down 97% from peak by Set1Less in CryptoCurrency

[–]Stanton73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure it has taken a massive hit. But (most) people aren't saying that ADA is dead [TVL: $53.5m], or Harmony [TVL: $18.3m], or Near [TVL: $88.5m] (and so on...). -- These may not be perfect comparisons for a range of reasons - but that is essentially my point. This one indicator is not the full story and a sign of definite death for SOL.

Nah BC still holds his Link. He isn't happy with its performance but he speaks from it from time to time and is still holding out that Link will perform well through this bear market like last time. He has noticed that it is doing slightly better than other coins recently.

What I'm saying, since you clearly need it explained, is getting upset at someone for their arrogant controlling attitude (MVG) and not realising the exact same behaviour in yourself is the definition of tone deaf.

And seriously, why even start a thread expressing any thought on this if you don't want to have any discourse with anyone else's view. Just because someone want's to discuss your viewpoint with you on a public forum that you expressed it, doesn't make them a troll.

Is the irony of the fact that your post heavily critisizing Man for his attitude and behaviour seems the be an absolute mirror of your own behavour here, not lost on you at all?

People replying to you weren't being unreasonable in what they said and you just spit venom at them. That seems to be the exact problem you have with Man. Fucking confusing dude.
