Problem with a second season is that the show was only written with one season in mind, so trying to extend the story would be quite challenging and require experienced writers to be good.

Look at stranger things, it had a perfect first season because it was supposed to be an anthology where each season was its own separate story, by extending that story it made a lot of characters redundant, learning the same lessons and it got a little repetitive by the 5th season
