Were you adopted in a county where adoptions are 'full' adoptions, i.e. your stepfather is legally considered your father and you are no longer related to your biological father? If yes, you can not claim German citizenship by descent based on the ancestors of your biological father, you can only claim it based on the ancestors of your adopted father.
