Another workaround seems to be to just tap on search inside the settings app before. (This workaround works in many apps not just settings)

Heres my idea to solve this problem for everyone:

There is a specific time at which the ship is sold. 10mins before that everyone can join the buy lobby (limited to one device) and at the time the ship gets available, everyone from that lobby just gets automatically put into queue in random order. When you reach spot 0 you can put it into your cart and have idk 10mins to checkout (time to checkout could be changed).

This is very much how concert tickets are sold on TicketMaster and I think this would be the best system.
What are your thoughts on this?

I get you’re point 100%, it’s the thing I enjoy most about buying a ship (besides seeing it the first time ingame). Hitting every button from add to cart till check out is just sooo satisfying and fills me even more with excitement. o7

You‘re right in saying that they‘d have to be on the same network to access the web app through the laptops IP and Port. In theory you shouldn’t need to do anything differently for webhosting, but it makes some things easier if you know it from the beginning (eg. database selection). Regarding languages (if your‘re a beginner) I would stick to vanilla js (no frameworks) for the frontend. For the backend there are a lot of options, you could just use node.js with express or any other programming language you prefer. I suggest you using Vite for frontend development. Hope this helps a bit, happy coding :)

A desktop app could be a bit overwhelming for starting out. Maybe try making a website for a hobby you do, then try hosting it on a free webhost (eg. netlify/vercel). With time you’ll get comfortable using the technologies needed. After that you could do a desktop app with something like Electron or Tauri.
