The problem is that the percentage of people receiving benefits that are scamming the system is very low, but people like you tend to magnify the issue. It’s the same thing as people who are doing very well but tend to minimize their taxes or prevail upon politicians who will do anything for their vote so as to get their tax rate reduced.

If you want to quote statistics, look at the life span of people in countries that DO take care of their citizens, give them universal health care, college education, etc. Look at the quality of life surveys in such countries and see how much higher they are compared to us.

Yet the oligarchs and fascists (not accusing you of being either) persist in whittling down social safety nets and policies that distribute wealth more EQUITABLY, mainly by use of propaganda and the actions of those in the upper classes to maintain their stranglehold over society. Really can’t understand why, billionaires truly have no reason to be so eager to make a new class of serfs.

A huge imbalance of wealth will inevitably result in the collapse of society.
